A Word on SBNation Upgrades

As you may have noticed in Joel's most recent posts, we are now getting access to AP Photos to enhance our stories. This is a huge benefit and relief to us, as we have largely avoided photos due to the risk of copyright infringement and the general hassle of obtaining permission every time we might want to use one. Photo access is in its first stages, but you can see some of the SBN wizardry in action already; if you click on one of the AP photos, you'll head into a gateway of related pictures and content.

Many other chanegs are coming down the pike as well. For example, if you've ever surfed through the schedule/roster/stats buttons in the top menu banner on RTT (or any other SBN blog), you've probably not found it very useful. Check again. For example, if you head to "roster" and click on "Eric Berry", you get this page. If you go to "schedule" and click "wyoming", you'll find out that Joel has posted nearly twice as many article on Wyoming as I have. The "stats" page is still being updated, but stats will be more useful and accessible than ever before. (The ultimate goal is to remove any reason you might have to look elsewhere for stats on any player for any team.)

SBN is working hard to not only "keep up with the Joneses" like ESPN, Rivals, etc. for content and quality, but they're looking to break ground and exceed the Joneses.

Stay tuned; as more comes along and as we figure out how to play with all these gadgets, great things are in store!

In the wake of Berry, all ruin and destruction looks the same.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any pics of Berry in the photo hopper yet. They’re still loading things up, and they’re doing it in some rough order of newsiness. I’m eagerly awaiting the football pic uploads, though.

Not exactly.

What we need to do is get another article up with Berry’s name linked to it – an article with a different picture. Since it’d be newer, it’d take the top slot and the picture would be there. The problem is that it has to be a picture from the AP/Getty pool. The internal coding treats them differently than pictures that we normally stick in. (It gets into the arrangements that SBN has made for the rights to post the pictures.)

That’s a really long way to say “not yet”. But don’t worry; I’m sure Berry has noted the offense and will gladly take it out on Kentucky in the fall.
