How Insane Are UK Fans? Ask the Door.
For the last two days, Memphis news has been featuring a door.
It's the door to the Memphis athletic building, and the 'net feed from the news station has been basically fixed to it for the last two days. The live comments show a very, very unhealthy obsession with the door.
Today has a double feature - they occasionally show the gate to Calipari's Memphis home. But for now, over 2000 people are fixed to the door. Whenever they tune away from the door, there's a net riot in the comments.
Oh, and the door has its own facebook page. (2, in fact.) Here's one.
...who says we need quality to be entertained?
:-D

The video flickers like a scene out of the movie Saw. Comments are coming in by the second. I said it’s great to NOT be a Kentucky Wildcat!

The spammers are tripping over themselves for their 0.2 seconds of exposure.
It’s absolutely hilarious. Earlier, the news crew gave a tour of The Door. They even opened it so we could get a peek inside.

Is he wavering?
Oh no, somebody just bumped into the camera and made the door look like it moved…

Hi Hooper!
The door (and the gate) really were a mess, but it was like being hypnotized – I swear! ;)
I am excited about Cal, but have to be honest that I am really really going to miss Billy G. I was nowhere near ready for that era to end and it will forever be a sad, disappointing and disgusting moment in my UK memory bank. I do think that Coach Cal can be the one to unite our fanbase that has been pretty divided for some time now.
I really wish Gillispie would take the Georgia job. I’d LOVE to keep him in the SEC!
It is not worth an intelligent man’s time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.

Hey, Tink!
I had a lot of fun watching the door myself. The comment thread – when it wasn’t too spammed out – was hilarious. The camera crew was brilliant as well.
Sorry about the way the Gillispie era ended; I know you really appreciated him. I think he got an unfair shake at Kentucky, to be honest. They should have known that he wouldn’t play politician – it’s not like he ever did that at any of his other stops. It’s also a little too convenient for everybody to blame the end of the NCAA tourney streak entirely on him, but that’s the way history tends to get written.
He’ll land on his feet somewhere; the most likely place I can think of would be Texas Tech, where he’d actually fit in rather well. But Georgia would be interesting. At least they wouldn’t have Messianic expectations of him.

End of the NCAA Streak
I totally agree with you on this. I really feel that we had been on a skidding path when it came to the NCAA tourney for a few years now. I can remember a year or two before Gililspie even got here sitting on my couch on Selection Sunday nervous about our fate. You can only slide your way into the tourney so many times.
Like I said, I am very excited about Calipari and believe that big things and good times are headed our way. I just cant help but feel like Gillispie could have done some things here if allowed more time.

The door was hilarious
Not counting the mostly juvenile comments on the right side of the door page.
