Last season, Jones was pretty adamant about getting the chance to line up in the shotgun. And the Oklahoma native said that he felt that way because of the need for him to make plays. Something he doesn't feel as strongly about at this point.
"Last year, I thought putting me and Eric (Berry) back at quarterback would help us because of our quarterback situation," Jones said. "I was expecting to play quarterback a lot last year, but the quarterbacks have been playing so well during spring ball that there is no need for me to go back there, they are taking care of business."

Jones also had this to say...
Receiver Gerald Jones has perhaps the best perspective of anyone, and he doesn’t hesitate to give Crompton his seal of approval.
“He is playing incredible. He is making all the right reads. He is minimizing his mistakes. He is playing really well,” Jones said of Crompton. “I think he is competing for the job. He is competing everyday with B.J. and Nick and he is proving that he can be the quarterback.”
Oh yeah...
McNeil said on the radio today that Crompton is doing a much better job of taking control in the huddle. (Compared to his demeanor in the huddle last year)
