Goodman @ FoxSports: UT #20 Preseason Hoops
Anyone else categorize Calipari's recruiting his old school's players as sleazy and unethical? I do, but he's preseason #9 in Hoops anyway.
Anyone want to put an over/under on the number of months before KY sees an NCAA investigation for illegal recruiting practices (Worldwide Wes, etc)?
Nothing terribly insightful on the Vols - Tyler goes, everyone else stays. But posted for your reading pleasure.

Cousins never signed at Memphis
Nothing sleazy there.
When coaches change schools, there is a lot of turnover at both places. Is Bill Self going to be just as sleazy for signing Xavier Henry?
Regarding Cal and violations, go here
Envy our past......Fear our future
You miss the point
Cousins was recruited by Memphis, using Memphis’ budget. Cal is violating the unwritten rule that you don’t steal players that you recruited at your old school – signed or not.
It’s even sleazier when they sign with an ‘out clause’ and then go with the coach. Huggins didn’t stoop to that when he left Cincy and went to W VA., and he’s no saint when it comes to recruiting.
As I said in the piece, legal and right are two different things. Cal may not have been convicted or charged (yet) with violating the rules, but his ethics are certainly questionable. There’s a lot of smoke around Coach Cal.
When Paster left Arizona and joined Memphis’ staff originally, Cal had him recruit a couple of studs that he initially recruited at AZ. It didn’t work out, but Cal tried it.
As I said earlier, if the kid gets released, he is free to go anywhere else and should be able to play immediately. The kid is making the best of a bad situation. If Bill Self can help himself out by helping the kid find a new home, no worriers there. If he left Kansas and went to UCLA (or where ever) and took his top 10 recruits with him – that would be sleazy.
Turnover to other schools is understandable. It is also different than stealing kids from your old school and taking them with you.
