Coach Kiffin on the Sports Animal
I heard this yesterday, so I thought I'd share with everyone, and hopefully find someone else who heard it who can jog my memory on a few things I undoubtedly forgot.
He said that the O&W game is going to be like a real game. They will kickoff and return. The only differences will be in scoring (defense can score points for doing certain things) and they will only do fair catches on punts. He said they will put on a great show and encourages everyone to come out.
He also made some different remarks about the players. Mostly standard stuff. He elaborated on why Chris Walker is so good - his combination of speed and power, even though he is 'undersized.' He said the receiving corps is look really good and that he thinks they have some real playmakers there, but not anyone "who is a first round pick in the draft, yet." He said he expects great thinks out of Aaron Douglass and that once he learns technique he will be a great OT. He said Montario Hardesty was definitely the top back right now.
When asked to say something about each of the quarterbacks, he made a couple of comments about BJ (that he started out slow, but has had a good last week) and something else about Nick (I can't remember). Basically, he talked for about 2 seconds about each of those guys. He then proceeded to go on and on about Crompton. About his work ethic, his arm strength, his command of the huddle, etc. He said that if Crompton puts it all together, he will have a great future.
He said Eddie Gran is doing a lot of work with the special teams.
He said it is really difficult now finding elite, pro-style QBs because so many high schools run the spread now. He did say, however, that there are many quarterbacks in California who run strictly pro-style systems and quit all other sports to focus on being great quarterbacks. So, I take this to mean that, don't be too surprised if we focus our quarterback recruiting efforts on players from the West Coast. I know we have offered Jesse Scroggins already. It is also my understanding that his parents went to UT.
Oh, and Coach M Kiffin still hasn't started riding the Bull like Coach O!

Sounds right to me
Monte is “all-natural,” he said. And about Stephens, I think he just said that he’s unfortunately not had much of an opportunity due to his wrist.
