Is this for real?
Is there actually a person named Dooley Noted? I saw this on EDSBS and thought it was a joke.

If Urban Meyer had anything resembling a sense of humor
I’d say whatever. But I think we’re really under his skin – he’s the least happy-sounding person to have won two championships in three years in the history of sport.
Now, Mark Richt got under his skin in ‘07 and it didn’t make a difference for Georgia on the field the next year. But I’m just saying.

I would be very interested to hear an argument of why this should be outlawed.
I’m not a stretch-limo type of guy myself, and if I were a recruit this would bring more of a facepalm from me than anything else. But I’m not a recruit. If it works, I can’t see why Auburn shouldn’t be able to do this. It’s their budget and it’s not like the recruits are pocketing any money from it. It’s certainly no more of a benefit than getting tours of stadia and practice facilities (which the average college applicant can’t have).
Just because other programs are willing to take steps that he’s not doesn’t in itself mean those steps are wrong. It’s a classic competitive market game where the established power (Florida) wants to control the rules of engagement to prevent the competitors (UT, Auburn, etc.) from employing new strategies that they’re not willing to use themselves.
Think Microsoft and Internet Explorer in comparison to Mozilla and Firefox. If there were any way for MS to prevent the use of open-source coding, they would have certainly been interested in it. Those at the top look for ways to keep others from challenging them, while those at the bottom look for new ways to challenge the established.
Again, the stretch limos wouldn’t work for me, but they’re not trying to target me either. If it works for Auburn, bully for them. At least they’re looking for advantages on the recruiting trail – something they’ll definitely need when you’re inherently second fiddle in your own state.

My guess is that Meyer is still unhappy about the NCAA cracking down on text messaging and thinks that because they hemmed him in from pushing boundaries, then it should hem in other schools too. The NCAA already monitors other kinds of travel, so making rules about limos I guess wouldn’t be too far a leap. Personally I think he’s overreacting, but it wouldn’t be the first time.

Which leads to the inevitable question . . .
. . . if you were recruiting hooper, what gimmick would you use?
I’d give him a shiny new beta copy of Excel 2010 tweaked to switch colors from orange and white to mustard and brown at the click of a button.

I think we've established
that I’m unafraid of sporting the brown/yellow/orange/white combination at once.
