Several media outlets reported Thursday that the university will have to forfeit wins from the 2006 and 2007 football seasons that included players who obtained free textbooks for other students.
From what I read, I believe the correct word is ‘vacate’ not ‘forfeit’, which are two different things.
The Tuscaloosa News, The Birmingham News and the Mobile Press-Register reported that Alabama would not lose any football scholarships.
If this is considered being “slammed”, then slam away!
Also, I’ve always thought this issue of students obtaining textbooks for other students should be considered an in-house university issue rather than a major ncaa violation, seeing as the athlete’s really didn’t personally gain anything, and it didn’t involve recruiting and/or extra benefits. Oh well.
