Is Peyton Manning solar-powered?
Hey,Tennessee legend Peyton Manning on ESPN wearing orange and talking about the Vols:
First things first: Is Peyton using his forehead as a solar panel? Or had he just had it waxed?
Anyway, this is great stuff from Tennessee's favorite alumnus, who we're proud to see is still representing the University well. He was very diplomatic in his response to the question of what he thought about Kiffin's public statements, but reading between the lines, it's obvious he doesn't much care for it. And he's right . . . it's all about what happens on the field in the fall.

Manning
I like how he talks about how much he enjoyed coming back to Knoxville for his senior season and that being one of the best years of his life. Ever better that he lead them to an SEC title his senior year.
It also is neat how he has stayed connected with the university and comes back every summer to work out with the team. Imagine being a young Vols receiver like G. Jones and Peyton is throwing you 15 yard out patterns in practice this summer……

No kidding
That would be fantastic. One of those extra benefits for current Vol players. Hmm. Secondary violation? Who cares?

After Kiffin...
… whether Kiffin leaves on his own or is run out of town, I wouldn’t mind Peyton being our next head coach. He has exactly as many games under his belt as a college head coach as Kiffin right now, so the lack of experience wouldn’t be an issue for me.
If not UT Head coach, I would also accept Mayor of Knoxville or Governor of TN.

I think Peyton is too competitive to go into broadcasting
So I definitely think he’ll coach or front office somewhere. As a QB coach, offensive coordinator or head coach, he’d be exactly like Spurrier was though – “I could’ve made that throw, why can’t you make it?”

I don't know...
… I base this purely on hype I have read/heard about the Peyton/Eli/Archie passing camp, but I have heard Peyton is a really good teacher, so I think he would make a good coach. I know a lot of elite athletes have trouble coaching because they can’t understand why their players aren’t as good as THEY were (I’m thinking of Larry Bird,) but a lot of what makes Peyton such a great player is hard work and preparation, not just God-given talent. I think Peyton will make an excellent QB coach, offensive coordinator, and/or head coach at just about any level. His understanding of offense and defense are hailed around the NFL as being like having your offensive coordinator under center.
In closing, shame on you for comparing Peyton to Spurrier. ;-)

If he is like Spurrier
then he will be a great coach.
Larry Legend also said that no professional coach should be with the same team for more than three years, because players stop listening to you and need something fresh. I think Peyton would be more frustrated by the NFL than college, because professional athletes generally don’t work as hard as college kids who are trying to become them.

I agree with all of that
Especially the better (or, more effective) in college than in the NFL part.
