VolBrian pointed this news out earlier from ESPN - now KNS includes quotes from Rettig, which make it sound like he's pretty firm on the Eagles.

Maybe

He knows that Scroggins is coming to Knoxville? Maybe Scroggins told him? Hopefully? Maybe?

Tactical mistake from a group of recruiters that doesn't make many ...

not to offer him AT our QB camp or the following day.

He may well have been #2 behind Scroggins on our wish list, but it would better to have him in hand. For those worried it would have scared Scroggins off, it would have shown Scroggins that UT can attract a top QB. I don’t think Scroggins is the kind to be scared by competition. Which unfortunately leads to the following guess.

Scroggins is going to get buried in the USC depth chart, but I believe that’s where he’s going to go. (Just down the street and too strong a pull.)

Who’s next that we really want? Munchie? Or the Memphis kid – Brunetti?

We're running out of room and time on getting the guys we really want

The cold reality is there’s not one “name” prospect who’s a sure thing for us right now, even Brunetti. When it’s all said and done we may be talking about striking out on half a dozen guys that we wanted, leaving us with either Nick Stephens or a player from an entirely different tier.

(Stay the course.)
