livecommenting as much as I can:
Crompton and Stephens will get equal reps to start camp and that will play heavily into starting qb decisions.
there will be an open aspect to camp
Obviously not all of it, but they’ll try to open up as much as possible to maximize publicity.
15 minutes in all.
That should all fit within one download if you listen to the rebroadcast. There’s more than what I captured, but I was in transition so I put down as much as I could.
(Am I the only one who’s this starved for some actual football? I didn’t think so.)
Yes.
I had to wait until they loaded the content up.

Some more notes
Gerald Jones – wrist & thumb. Cast through training camp
Toney Williams – ACL Done.
Austin Rogers – all 3 WR positions. Will really hurt, esp leadership. Tough to get 6th yr. Love to have him back.
Denarious Moore – surgery tomorrow AM Foot – putting pin in. Out Well into season.
QB situation – not confident we’ll get the one we want. It is a set back. Is disappointed so far. “All that matters is who’s there on signing day.”
Freshmen get their shot first. Lots of info on guys from spring. Putting in 3-5x as much in 15 days. Whoever keeps up and can make a difference will play. Whole nother level. Rock & Roll.
Top players have UT in their top 5 – guys with 30-40 offers. USC, FL, Bama – hitting on all cylinders. And UT is in there.
What I heard
- Gerald Jones being in a cast doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll miss time. UT receivers – most notably Donte Stallworth – have played and played well with a smaller cast on.
- Crompton and Stephens basically splitting reps in fall camp…did something change? Wasn’t Crompton “the man”? Is this tied into recruiting struggles?
Will - Rocky Top Talk
Maybe theyre opening it up, see who has done their work in the time off

I think PotS is on track.
Stephens really didn’t get a fair assessment during the spring because of his broken wrist (which happened on or right before the first day of spring practice IIRC). This would then be his opportunity to show the coaches what he can do – much like how the incoming freshmen will get an audition at the beginning of camp.
And I’m sure Crompton was informed of this as extra motivation to practice over the summer. The last thing anybody wanted was for Crompton to get complacent and take the summer off. (Not that I think he would have done that, but why chance it?)
But I don’t think this has anything to do with recruiting problems.

Agreed
I think they felt like that they’d evaluated Crompton & Coleman fairly. It was a toss-up – with maybe a slight edge to Crompton. With the recruiting angle, they gave Crompton the nod, so that the departing-senior would leave a gaping hole for the big time recruit.
And also agree that Jones won’t necessarily miss time, but we didn’t know before that the cast would stay on through fall camp. Normally hand strength would be important for catching bullets thrown by the QB. Not sure if that’s an issue this year.
