SEC Media Days live blog: Mike Slive
Mike Slive's due up at the podium at 12:30 CST. I don't know how much discussion this is going to generate, but using it as a dry run might be worthwhile. So, if you're able, check out the direct link to the video stream, which we're hoping will open in a new window. If that fails, here's the SEC Media Days website.
As I said this morning, I won't be updating here because it's too slow and doesn't allow us to interact very well. Instead, I'll be joining you in the thread below.
Hello, Commissioner Slive!

Just ran into Spencer, who told me not to miss Rogers Redding tomorrow. He’s the SEC Coordinator of Football Officials and will be up tomorrow morning.

They’re not new. They’re a reality and consequence of being so highly regulated.

But some are more serious
Especially in recruiting.
Standard penalties for PCs, text message, corresopndence violations. More aggressive than NCAA to show there are meaningful penalties for this stuff.
Important to determine if there’s a pattern. If trend is detected, penalties become more severe.

Risk / reward
They know about this. Their thoughts? Anytime a 2nd violation is committed, they place themselves at risk, including additional scrutiny.

Yeah, that's frustrating.
Why advertise a live stream if you’re not going to give one? At least tell us it’s technical difficulties or something.

We'll see.
Right now, the “Free Streaming Video” link is actually linked to the schedule that’s about 3 inches further down the web page on my screen. It’s not a link to a video feed at all.
by David Hooper on Jul 22, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions
My thought exactly.
And that’s why I didn’t understand it the first dozen times. The “archived” bit is inconspicuously hidden lower down on the website.
