SEC Media Days live blog: the Florida Gators' Urban Meyer

Whew. The last of today's frenzied live-blogging at RTT is Urban Meyer of the Florida Gators. He's scheduled to begin talking at 11:40 and to crack his first smile sometime next January.

Meyer's bringing quarterback Tim Tebow and linebacker Brandon Spikes with him.

As we've been doing all along, I'll be leaving my instant impressions in the comment thread below so that you don't have to refresh your browser for new comments and so you can respond to any particular statement in a nice, orderly threaded fashion.

See ya below.

That's it for the live-blogging today. We'll do it all again tomorrow beginning at 8:40 a.m. Tomorrow's lineup features Auburn, South Carolina, LSU, and Tennessee.

In the meantime, stay tuned to RTT for the Jesse Scroggins announcement and more on SEC Media Days.

Ask Tebow who didn't vote for him.

I bet he’s already figured it out.

The World. If Meyer played Meyer it would be one of the best Meyer-tastic matchups of the 20th Meyer-century. I predict 450 all-purpose Meyer-yards, and at least 6 Meyer-downs. I would also provide the half-time entertainment as a one-Meyer-marching band called Meyer and the Meyers. It would become a national holiday.

Q: what are your expectations for the team?

A: Practice. Keep that edge for training camp, no injuries. Goals for the season are always the same. “Do everything we can to get to Atlanta.”

Q: Re: Tebow under center and the NFL?

A: There’s a lot made of that. But the concern isn’t the professional coaches. If you want to teach him to be under center, just do it, and he’ll do it better than anyone else. This year we have more and better backs that might help with putting Tebow under center. But it has nothing to do with the NFL.

Q: Dan Mullen's installation at MSU?

A: It takes some time. You’ll see a variation, depending on the personnel, much depends on tight end and fullback. If players are good, it’ll be good. If not, they’ll struggle.

Q: SEC beefing up its schedule. Is there an itch to play a tougher out-of-conference schedule?

A: We have a built-in game against FSU. Sometimes play Miami, too. We want to play at least one big time program; it’s built in to our schedule already. Every couple of years we’ll add another.
