Sweet
Good stuff. Basically, I read from that article we will get him if Scroggins goes elsewhere.
Tennessee WILL beat Georgia on the way to 9+ wins in '09!!!
I think he's way undervalued.
Second coming of Clausen? Casey, that is….Aw heck, why not? Rick too
My question is whether CLK is truly interested or trying to push J Scroggs into a decision. I, for one, commend CLK for not offering Scroggins’ cousin just to entice him to sign. I’m sure we can get Rettig, but I’m still not convinced about Scroggins.
Agreed, Im very glad CLK isnt offering Scroggin's cousin
Its a bad situation when things like that happen – bad for the team, the locker room, and the tag-along when/if he doesn’t play. Im glad CLK is putting his foot down and sticking to his principles. And I even attended Houston High for a bit, though I don’t know anything about his cousin.

The Scroggins family was actually pretty bothered that this rumor got started
Scroggins was just saying it would be nice. He was in no way trying to pressure the staff into doing it.
Keep in mind, he was probably asked a question like, “How has it been to play with your cousin at camp today? What would it be like for you both to come to Tennessee?”
I don't know a lot about Rettig.
But I have a strong belief that minimizing the downside of a quarterback is more important than maximizing the upside. We’ve seen a lot of game managers have success when a solid team is placed around them, and we’ve seen ‘high upside’ guys absolutely destroy a team’s season in the blink of an eye because they tried beyond their ability.
So I’m not particularly worried if our qb for this class (and we will have one) doesn’t get rated with a lot of upside – so long as he doesn’t cause more problems along the way.
Minimizing downside
Well said, Mr. Hooper. This is why you don’t draft Jamarcus Russell with the #1 overall pick. The fact that a man can throw the ball 70 yards will lying on his back and holding a glass of water in his left hand is substantially irrelevant if he also throws between one and two inexplicable INT’s every game.
Matthew Stafford also belongs in this conversation.
IIRC, one of Al Davis's points of contention was that Kiffin wasn't as hot on Russell as Davis was.

Just another point on why Kiffin is the better man in that debacle
Also have to agree with Stafford comment – always have believed he was over stated and definitely not a #1 overall pick. Also skeptical of Moreno’s ability in the NFL, but I digress…

He's good enough for a USC offer if Scrogg goes to UT|UF
He’s neither school’s first choice, but he’s a heck of a ‘consolation prize.’
Matt Stafford would comment on kidbourbon's post down here.
But it would probably be in all caps.

Again, maybe too much reading between the lines...
but if his choice was Boston College before today, it seems like us being the first elite program to offer him went a long way…not sure if that would be a deciding factor if USC goes ahead and offers too, but a smart move by our staff at this point either way
