At USC, you practiced every day against Pete Carroll's defense and in Week Two, you face his mentor, Monte Kiffin at Tennessee -- how similar will that be?
Pete does a nice job and he has that base, but there were some other things going on.
I've heard that one of the most underrated aspects of Carroll as a coach is the way he translated that Cover-2 defense down to college. Because of the wider hash marks, it's apparently a lot bigger change than most people think. How different is that from the NFL to college scheme-wise?
I think it's going to be a little different. I think. I don't know because I haven't seen them play yet. The thing about Monte Kiffin is his belief system. He does his defense so well. Even though you know where they're at, they're hard to beat because they do what they do so well.
How much of (Tennessee safety) Eric Berry have you watched from last year?
Oh, he's such a great player, but the thing about last year's game with them -- it was so crazy. It was two teams that were just trying to identify themselves. Perfect example, they bring a corner blitz but they forget to cover the receiver. Well, our receiver is wide-open, but we don't see it. So, it was two bad teams. They're making mistakes and we can't capitalize on them. Everybody was making mistakes, but I don't think that'll happen this go-round. They're awfully good coaches down here.
