2. Tennessee at Alabama, Oct. 24: Under normal circumstances this would probably be a comfortable win for the Crimson Tide. But Alabama has the big showdown at Ole Miss on Oct. 10. Then the Tide hosts South Carolina on Oct. 17. Alabama will get a week off on Oct. 31 in order to rest up for the big home game with LSU on Nov. 7. But before that week off they host Tennessee. The Alabama players will be looking forward to that week off after playing eight straight Saturdays. Tennessee will be rested after a week off and Lane Kiffin will probably still be looking for his first big win. What better way to get it than to beat one of your oldest rivals?

Mr. College football?
Really?
“Under normal circumstances this would probably be a comfortable win for the Crimson Tide”
Since when? The last 2 years? Let’s see 5 players suspended for Alabama the first win and last year Tennessee was in the process of removing the coach. I ask you when has this game ever had normal circumstances and either side felt “comfortable” for a win.

I’m sure the players won’t even think of the second biggest rivalry for our school (first in some circles) and just go through the motions.
My opinion is “trap games” are for the non rivals but teams that can bite you.
I would agree that UT is not a trap game.
Especially with the week of afterward, what does the Tide have to look forward to? But the term ‘trap game’ was meant most specifically to be a game against a weaker, uninteresting (that is, usually nonconference) opponent sandwiched between two bigger games. At the very least, there has to be a huge game on the horizon that the ‘trapped’ team is anticipating so much that they blow off the present opponent.
Well, that’s how I’ve always thought of it.
