Talking Points: Folks, there are freshmen on the depth chart
My best intentions were thwarted by a wonky internet connection this weekend. Wonky how? Well, let's just say that when Chrome tells you your download will be finished in 55 days, your connection may just be stuck in the mud. Or wearing concrete shoes at the bottom of the river. I'm sorry, but I'd really rather not wait until after the Memphis game.
Anyway, abbreviated Talking Points this morning.
- Hooper already has everything you need to know about Saturday's scrimmage and the depth chart, which Will helpfully notes includes seven freshmen as starters or co-starters. Teammates are calling a group of the new guys on offense (Bryce Brown, David Oku, Nu'Keese Richardson, Marsalis Teague, and Zach Rogers) the "Fab Five," which may be a little worn out in other parts of the country but sure sounds good on Rocky Top. Watch for Nuke to be returning punts, by the way, but first hope that he catches the thing. And Janzen Jackson is bracketed with Dennis Rogan as starter at free safety opposite Eric Berry. So yeah, woo for freshmen and Lane Kiffin making good on his promises.
- GVX (the News Sentinel's blog about the Vols) ;-) has a couple of nice features, one on Chris Walker and another on Bryce Brown.
- Is Lane Kiffin the ghost of Doug Dickey?
- Worried about our quarterbacks? Yeah, well, who of our opponents isn't? Florida, Ole Miss, and perhaps Arkansas aren't, but everyone else has questions.

Remember last year
when Dave Clawson said he wanted a “Circle of Five” or “Final Five” or whatever group of playmakers? I think he never told us who was actually on that list because his offense refused to allow it.
It’s going to be better this year.
Will - Rocky Top Talk
For Clawson it was called the "Fail Five"
"The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely to be the one who dropped it."
