Season ticket demand?
Not sure what to make of this, but I got a letter yesterday from UT concerning additional season tickets being made available to current season ticket holders. The available seats are in the LOWER levels of the North and South end zones. The number of seats available is not mentioned. Maximum you can purchase is 4.
I assumed that the buzz created by Kiffin and Co. would have resulted in great demand for season tickets. Maybe the university is simply rewarding current season ticket holders with an opportunity to get 2009 season tickets with no increase in annual donation. Maybe the down economy has resulted in non-renewals in numbers not seen in recent years. The letter says this offer is for 2009 season ONLY and priority dead line is August 15.
I assume that if current season ticket holders don't grab all of these seats they will be made available to the general public (after 8-15-09). The ticket booklet (with all home games) is $360----and you're in the lower bowl. Frankly, I anticipated a waiting list for tickets, not a bunch for sale.

Slow economy is the reason
Unemployment is over 10% in Tennessee. Admittedly, the choice between feeding your family and holding onto UT season tickets is a tough one but apparently there are a few fair weather fans out there. Enjoy the extra tickets.
(Before anyone accuses me of being heartless, I am kidding…)
I had a message on my answering machine the other day...
…from Bob Kesling and John Ward letting me know that non-renewing season tickets were available at UTTix.com. Unfortunately I don’t have the 485 dollars available (120 donation, 385 for the tickets). If it were next year (Florida and Bama at home) I’d likely be looking at putting a kidney up on eBay
No Worries
Hey, this is the Vol behind enemy lines here in Athens, GA and don’t be alarmed Vol Nation. I am a Atl Falcons ticket holder and with the success of Ryan and the off season aquisition of Gonzolaz you would think it would be impossible to get season tickets…..and here at the university they have the same situation. People who never had a chance to get season tickets suddenly have the opportunity this season, and their fans still think they are going to beat Florida……
