Never thought I'd ever say this....
Tennessee and Alabama go together about as good as oil and water....but this Alabama fan is putting that "difference" aside and is asking for a HUGE favor...
BEAT AUBURN!!!!! Please for the love of god beat the teagles.....They've been walking around acting like their something special since beating...well no one...They're actually talking about Heisman's and undefeated seasons...
So please...for the love that is everything holy...BEAT AUBURN!!!!
Thanks,

Trust me we will do our best !
I remember back when we hated Auburn more than or as much as Bama. There was one away game at Auburn and they flogged the whole team coming out of the tunnel with oranges and UT went on to clean their clock ! Never happen again but I can still see oranges in my head being thrown from the cheap seats !

Excuse me sir ...
… are you sure you are not confusing what Ole Miss fans did to UT with oranges at the Liberty Bowl back in the ’80s?

Damn, bammer
Getting a little nervous that the “dynasty” Alabama was putting together in the state may have only lasted for one year?
BTW, West Virginia is a great team. They dominated us, but beat themselves; that’s why we came out ahead on the scoreboard. Don’t be surprised if they end up 11-1 or 10-2.

I guess
you’ve got nothing better to do than stir the pot.
If you stay off the AU blog then maybe you’ll find you’re less annoyed. You go looking for this stuff and all of a sudden you’re surprised to find AU fans happy about how the season is going when all the bama fans were so sure it would be a train wreck from the opening whistle. Listen, I know that must be disappointing for you, but it isn’t really any reason to get on to every team we play’s blog and start running your mouth.

Actually Gump..I
go around and read all the SEC blogs…not because im looking for dirt, but because i enjoy reading what other teams are up too, how they faired on Saturday, fan reaction, excellent write ups, etc..etc..thats what i love about SB Nation…
I actually haven’t posted on TET for a while. Mainly due to NOT wanting to stir the pot…I have found some of the write ups quite funny. I mean really…the fact that undefeated and heisman talk is even runnning through any fanbases heads right now is funny. Im certianly not thinking Bama is a sure undefeated team…long way to go here…4 down…8 to go…
Yes..I have been a little surprised at AU’s success. AU is in fact better than i thought, but you guys are a LONG way from being undefeated…and in no way is Chris Todd a heisman candidate…
Anyways…dont be so angry…geeze

I enjoy it, personally. Just keep in mind that we had a pretty exhausting round of it with Florida trolls, and I think there’s still a little weariness around.
Really, as long as the content stays above board, I don’t mind an occasional ‘Post getting into the trash talk (think two friends who cheer for rival teams at a sports bar). I think that’s where Joel is with it too. And when it’s compartmentalized, as in threads like this, those who don’t want to get involved can ignore it.

I'll throw in my two cents worth...
I’ve always considered Tennessee and Auburn as Alabama’s ONLY two rivals (LSU still isn’t a rival to me).
Tennessee I’ve always considered to be Alabama’s biggest rivalry due to the tradition and the fact that both programs share a lot of common qualities.
Auburn on the other hand, I’ve always considered them to be Alabama’s most hated rival. Instead of being a rival, they are more or less the proverbial gnat in Alabama’s backside… the bride’s made but never the bride and yadda yadda yadda. Because of that, they try endlessly to bring Alabama down to their level, but always tend to fail epically.
With that being said…
GO VOLS!
After spending seven wondrous years in the state of Alabama, never in my life have I seen fans, who claim to be loyal to one team, spend more time AUbsessing over the other more so than they do their very own.

Ok, I'll say this: as a fanbase, you ARE obsessed with Auburn.
For one, name any non-Auburn fanbase that is more involved in Auburn discussions throughout the year. If any fanbase is obsessed with them, Alabama is the most likely one.
For two, they do happen to be your main in-state rival, and are good enough to give Alabama a run for their money over the long haul. It’s not a Tennessee-Vanderbilt situation, where one program is clearly invested into football at a different level. You should be obsessed with them; that’s a part of what makes the Iron Bowl actually mean something more than just another divisional game.
For three, that was the final validation for Saban: by beating Auburn last year, Alabama could lay claim to being the top program in the state. That means everything, as now Alabama has a clear recruiting advantage and the upper hand in program development for the near future. That is your fundamental building block: beating Auburn.
Beating Tennessee is a pride thing; beating Auburn may or may not mean more emotionally to this fan or that fan, but it does mean more logistically.
You’re obsessed with Auburn. As it should be. Oh, and vice versa for everything above, replacing “Tennessee” with “Georgia”.
(And in case this comes out annoyed or high-handed: ;-) )

To be clear, I meant vice versa with Auburn instead of Alabama and Georgia instead of Tennessee. Not sure that came out right.
Tennessee kinda has to borrow an obsession. Right now, we’re split three ways: Florida for the young in general, Alabama for the old in general, and Georgia for those who have to deal with them in any routine basis. I’m not sure we can lay claim to an honest-to-goodness next door neighbor rivaly quite like Bama-Auburn, USC-UCLA, etc. Not that it isn’t as intense per se.

That's the whole thing, Hoop
(Do you mind if I call you Hoop? Would you prefer Mr. Er?)
Tide fans have this sense of entitlement where they think we care more about them than our own team. And that is a flat out lie. This is not to say that I don’t check the Alabama score when I’m at Auburn games, to see if they’re (hopefully) losing. I’m sure they love checking the Auburn score to see if we’re losing as well. My whole point is, it’s not a one-way street. Each program and its fans care about what the other is doing; it’s yin and yang. People who pretend like they don’t care what the other team is doing, while espousing a bunch of BS about how that’s all the other team’s fans do…those are the real douches in the matter.

The reason for the word "still" in my profile
I recently (well, several months ago) merged profiles from several different SB Nation blogs into this one. My user info said I was a 2007 graduate of AU, currently in grad school. I wanted to keep that in my profile so that people who saw each profile would know both were me. Maybe I should have put the “still” before “in grad school,” but I’m not here to get my English Ph.D.

Did you know:
- Alabama fans were actually ranked as the #2 most non-knowledgeable fans in the country? Recent polling of the Tuscaloosa area showed that 73% still believe that Paul “Bear” Bryant is alive. An additional 27% believe that Paul Bryant has claws, else why would he have that nickname? (The #1 most non-knowledgeable fans were the Big East fans as a whole, because they all thought their league played football. I’ve yet to see current proof of this.)
- Gene Chizik is known to be a worshiper of Satan, bathing in the blood of young lambs the night before every gameday. However, this obviously is an ineffective ritual, as is evidenced by his career head-coaching record.
- Eric Berry will eat your soul.
- Apparently, Alabama has a reputation for cheating. Let’s be honest, does this surprise anyone? I mean, it’s not like they can read the rule-book in that state, so it’s kind of hit-and-miss with rule-breaking. They kinda just have to hold their nose and jump in head-first.

Ok, I think this has played out.
We’re obviously running out of fun, interesting quips as it’s getting more personal in nature, so it’s probably about time to let this thread go. Especially seeing how much of it is between Alabama and Auburn fans directed at each other – on a Tennessee blog. Can’t you two go get your own room? ;-)
And just as a gentle reminder – we like to keep the language where most parents would feel comfortable having their grade school kids read the content. Sure it’s restrictive, but it’s what we do.
Did I mention that I can’t wait for Alabama week to get here? ;-)
