Around the SB Nation: what's up in the Big Ten and SEC
- The Rivalry, Esq. surveys the Big Ten in light of the past week's struggles of three of the league's preseason favorites.
- Team Speed Kills has the first week's SEC Power Poll, along with a recap of what we learned Saturday and how it wasn't much different from opening week last year.
- Ohio St. blog We Will Always Have Tempe analyzes it's near miss against Navy and concludes that it was more like the rare let downs many elite programs experience and less like Michigan's historic loss to Appalachian St., which signaled more serious problems.
- EDSBS guest columnist "Tommy Kilborn, Notre Dame Law Student" recants on last year's calling for the head of Charlie Weis. Kilborn is fictional, of course, as evidenced by the fact that he says some Notre Dame alumni were standing during the game.

the biggest difference
in the Ohio St.-Navy game vs. Michigan-App St. was that Ohio State won the game. It may be a sign of trouble ahead, but I would say nowhere near the trouble that it spelled for Michigan (who had a much better year that year, even after starting 0-2 than they ended up having last year. They did end up with a Citrus Bowl win over Florida, after all).
I am not sold on Notre Dame fyi

My prediction: Pryor will break Vince Young's record on the Wonderlic test.
This kid is dumb as a bag of hammers. From his committing to “The University of Ohio State” to “Everyone does — kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me,” I wonder how he got through high school and the ACT/SAT.
I heard he took the test with derrick rose
Could be your problem right there

He's actually got a 3.0 GPA...
albeit as a criminal justice major, i think. Dude’s got some serious talent, but he’s an absolutely terrible speaker. Needs to take a public speaking course, and soon…
