Monte Kiffin interview on The Sports Animal
From earlier this morning with Doc Jeff & Heather - you don't have to agree with what Monte is saying, but props to him calling in when he certainly didn't have to, and for talking for 11:25 instead of sixty seconds.

I still respect Monte in all of this
The one with the most tarnished rep is Coach O, and Lane is a close second. Still like Monte.

Not really sure...
…how anyone but Orgeron tarnished his reputation. He was trying to actively recruit players that had alread signed with Tennessee to go to USC.
L. Kiffin did because of the manner in which he left
One minute press conference, didn’t even tuck his shirt in, wouldn’t allow a live broadcast, wouldn’t take questions, had the insolence to say that he left UT better than he found it. Real classy, that.

What a joke
Way to hold his feet to the fire, Sports “Animal.”
Good lord, they still sound starstruck by Monte Kiffin and the guy just gave our entire program the middle finger.

Monte talking about recruit Jacques
isn’t it a secondary violation for Monte, a coach at a university, to talk about HS recruit Jacques Smith, as he does at the end of the conversation? I would love to hang a secondary violation on USC’s new coaching staff, kind of a housewarming gift for the Kiffins, courtesy of UT.
Transcript?
Anyone? Dang it dont make me wait until I get home!

You're not missing much
A bunch of Monte’s “Aw shucks” routine accompanied by fawning laughter from the hard-hitting journalists of The Sports Animal.

basically Monte just made excuses for his son. He lied and said this came out of nowhere and he didn’t know until the last minute… he said didn’t know anything about The Kiffins approaching USC about the job (although word is now out that Monte had talked to Pete Carroll about the job.) He said he didn’t know anything about Orgeron calling early enrollees and telling them to not go to class. Just a bunch of “we gave our all for tennessee, so don’t hate us for destroying your program” bullsh*t. Trying to save face. Although, listening to him talk, he sounded confused and doddering. Rambling about his wife taking walks and such. It’s possible that Monte doesn’t have a clue what a piece of sh*t his son is.
he raised him!
i think that says something about him! and he had to have discussed all this with Lane. If he were a man of principle, he would teach his son about honoring comittments. the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree
There is simply no reason to believe that Monte didnt have some hand in this
Cant reasonably expect that this man who coached in the NFL for as long as he did only to move to Knoxville for one year didnt have a say in picking up and moving again to USC. He should be close to retiring, and im actually surprised he went for this.

I think you're wrong
Surely if that were the case, the hard-hitting, no-nonsense questions of Doc, Jeff, and Heather would have ferreted that out.

I have a lot of respect for Monte
Having known the situation that he came here under, and for calling in. In all of this, he’s the only one not making a back-stabbing decision, because it was his son he wanted to coach with. His son leaves, he leaves, and I can accept that.
I guess, really, what I’m saying is that if I saw Monte walking down the street, I don’t think I’d be tempted to suckerpunch his elderly figure. But Lane Kiffin and Oregon? You betchya.

if you know big time football coaches
you know they have little to do with raising their children in most cases. they just aren’t there. it’s the nature of the job.

just saying
it’s probably more correct to say “he did a horrible job NOT raising his son”
