Talking Points for 1/29/10:
Despite the horrible hand he's been dealt, head coach Derek Dooley is recruiting like a madman and having some great success. As we noted yesterday, he's just landed commitments from QB Nash Nance and 4-star running back Raijon Neal, and it's beginning to look like we have a shot with Da-Rick Rogers, a five-star wide receiver who Rivals has listed as the 9th-best player nationally.
Chattanooga Times Free Press | Nance changes commitment to UT
"Coach Dooley had already broken down my abilities and future as a Vol," said Nance, who passed for 3,018 yards and 29 touchdowns this season for the Georgia Class AA runners-up. "He was so easy to talk to and he is very driven. He is a man of intregity like his father (former Georgia coach Vince Dooley), and I truly felt that I could go see Coach Dooley any time with any issue, personal or football related. "That is something that is very important to me. In my opinion, the Volunteer Nation has a new head coach with integrity, extreme drive to be successful and is a common man all young athletes will relate to and will be excited to go into battle with every Saturday."

YouTube - Calhoun QB Nance, WR Rogers announce college commitments
Rogers talks a lot of "relationship" being the basis of his earlier decision to commit to Georgia. And it's obvious that he and Nance are very good friends. Plus, according to Wes Rucker, Georgia's never been his dream. So there's a chance with this guy. He's announcing on National Signing Day at 9:45 between Georgia and Tennessee, if I remember correctly.
Scout.com: Neal chooses Vols over Dawgs
"Coach Chaney and Coach Dooley were the coaches I spent most of my time with during my visit and we got along great," Neal said. "Coach Dooley knows what he is talking about, he knows what he is doing there, and I like him a lot. He has been through it and I like what he is getting ready to do at Tennessee." "As a person, he is honest, upfront about everything, and I liked that about him. We talked a lot up there and me and my family like him a lot."
VolQuest.com - Visit to Tennessee seals the deal for Neal
Neal (5-foot-11, 210 pounds), from Sandy Creek HS in Tyrone, Ga. is the No. 9 tailback in the nation in the revised rivals.com rankings, and a significant pick up for Dooley this close to signing day.
Chattanooga Times Free Press | Pearl's Vols now must deal with two losses in row
The 14th-ranked Volunteers (15-4, 3-2) started league play with three wins over Western Division opponents that beat them last season, but they have lost two consecutive games they won last season -- at Georgia and home against Vanderbilt.

Lady Vols tie school record with 13 3-pointers, 85-56 " GoVolsXtra
Johnson’s first career 3-pointer was one of a season-high 13 for Tennessee in an 85-56 SEC women’s basketball victory over Auburn before a crowd of 12,353 at Thompson-Boling. The baker’s dozen also tied a school record. The others were conventional in nature, but no less enjoyable for a backcourt that hadn’t hit much of anything lately.
Adams: No need this time for margin of error " GoVolsXtra
You don't measure Lady Vols regular-season basketball by mere victories. Margin of victory is what resonates in the most successful program in women's basketball. That's why no self-respecting Tennessee fan would have been caught celebrating three victories in the previous four SEC games. Instead, the two-week stretch will be remembered as four games and not a blowout among them. In a program famous for winning big, two weeks without a rout qualifies as a slump. The slump ended Thursday night.
It's also worth noting, too, with Signing Day less than a week away, that Williams was just a three-star prospect coming out of Memphis East.
