Sucks, but...
Right or wrong, they’re still called STUDENT-athletes.
This is just the latest reason to implement a new degree that I’ve advocated for years…Bachelors of Art in American Football Studies. Seriously, if you’re academically ineligible to play with that course load, you probably shouldn’t be on the team anyway!
Could you imagine the coursework?
AFS 240: Reading Zone Defenses
AFS 252: Proper Pass Blocking Technique
AFS 311: Special Teams 1
AFS 175: Weight Training and Exercise Nutrition
AFS 400: Special Topics – Defending the Zone Read
The first university to get that curriculum accredited would have a huge recruiting advantage.

FLAW!
Hooper…Special Teams 1…a 300-level course?! No wonder we’re soooo deficient in that aspect of the game!! ;-)
That's a function of the prereqs.
AFS 150: Catching
AFS 175: Environmental factors: Wind and Sun
AFS 210: Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Helmet

Actually, it's a seminar.
Every week features a different sunglasses, sunscreen, or lip balm vendor.

Wonderful
But, on the plus side, he hasn’t been starting anyways since Malik moved inside. So all we’re losing here is depth.
