SBN College: Latest Cam Newton Revelation A Smear Job
Around SB Nation's college blogs today:
- Team Speed Kills says that reports that Auburn QB Cam Newton was about to be expelled from Florida for cheating when he transferred to community college may explain why he transferred rather than wait for Tim Tebow to graduate, but because there doesn't appear to be any real consequence of the news, it's really just a smear job.
- After a game against Kansas that produced a drive chart one reader found vomit-inducing, Colorado has fired head coach Dan Hawkins, whom Ralphie Report says "will be remembered for many things none of which center around winning football games."
- Duke Basketball Report suggests that Coach K's retirement is still somewhere between two and eight years away, but says that opposing fans who believe that Duke will revert to what it was pre-Coach K after he retires are simply wrong.

As A Long Time Oregon Fan,
and as I fully expect the Ducks to play for the Title this season, the absolute last thing I want to see is the team we play later become disqualified because they were using a QB who was being paid as a pro.
Today it became abundantly obvious that something was given to the Newton family besides a scholorship for him to agree to attend Auburn.
I hope the NCAA (as corrupt an organization as there is in America, which is saying a lot) acts with haste, though it is doubtful they will. So it is up to the voters – writers and other coaches – to vote up either Boise or TCU and vote down Auburn.
If everyone realizes Auburn is going to be disciplined for the 2010 season, and required to give back every win in which Newton played, then why let that team play in a deciding bowl game this year?
Man, it sucks for y'all.
EIther you play Auburn, and it goes down like you said, or you play Boise or TCU, and then you “just beat” a mid-major. Which sucks, cause I think y’all could beat anybody this year. C’est la guerre.
