Will Muschamp will be named UF's new coach, sources have told the Times-Union. He's the D coordinate at Texas.

Well, that 'head coach in waiting' thing didn't turn out for Texas.
Wonder how the Longhorn faithful are taking this.
Oh, and MSU fans have to be happier than Florida fans.
No matter how much Florida fans approve of this, the single largest Mullen fear is off the board.
Interesting that they decide to go with a 1st time HC

Once you get past Mullen, though, I'm not really sure who was available.
Petersen at Boise doesn’t appear to be in any hurry to leave, and IIRC it has something to do with medical care available for a kid. Patterson at TCU is a great coach, but he’s Texas only and doesn’t have recruiting ties built into the south yet.
I agree with you – it’s an interesting choice. But maybe this is a year where going into the coordinator ranks is better than the HC ranks.

Photoshop a picture of Muschamp wearing Jorts.
The COEXIST bumper sticker is ridiculous. How are people supposed to get along when one side is flying planes into tall buildings or wearing sweater vests full of C4 and nails? The faiths are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
Oh, and before anyone else says is his new name is Mus-CHOMP or Mus-CHUMP.

This scares me less than Mullen
Mullen has HC experience, and he’s done very well. Also, he’d continue what Urban Meyer was doing, and that’s a bad thing. Muschamp at least requires transition (during which time, we can hopefully take over) and is unproven.

Plus, as a D Coordinator
He does nothing in and of himself to alleviate their woeful offensive problems.
Other than the obvious firing of Addazio.

True enough.
A classic case of addition by subtraction. Still, I find it unlikely that they’ll be using an offense that in any way resembles what Meyer was running the past five years, so there’ll be the inevitable readjustment. Muschamp has an impressive pedigree, but has yet to prove himself as a HC at any level. So, we’ll see. Interesting times indeed. After a year on the job, Coach Dooley is the ninth most tenured coach in the SEC.
I'd agree.
Muschamp’s biggest strength coming in will be his recruiting. Not that Florida wouldn’t be getting top-notch talent in, but there’s no reason to think that he won’t. It’ll be interesting to see if this affects any of our current commits as well as theirs.

I
question this hire for that reason.
He is an excellent recruiter, but they don’t need one. Spurrier barely recruited and still landed top 5 classes. What Florida needs is a guy who can flat coach, and while he seemed to be a pretty good coordinator… head coaching is a very different skillset.
I doubt there'll be much middle ground here.
He’ll either be an outstanding success, or will crash and burn. I know which one I’m rootting for.
It's an unknown. Big upside
But we may have a chance to take over. C’mon, Derek, this is your time.

Now if Saban would just move along....
