John Brown has signed with the Volunteers!

[Note by Joel, 02/03/10 12:36 PM EST ] Via Josh Ward, it's official for John Brown, and it looks like our 2010 class is closed.

JC defensive tackle John Brown (from Northeast Mississippi College) has just made the expected official by signing with the Vols to play football in the fall!

Star-divide

John Brown stands 6'-1" and weighs around 300 lbs, which physically makes him a great prospect for the nose tackle position.  He's a four-star junior college prospect who committed back in the summer but has held firm to Tennessee since the coaching transition.  The stocky build will help him hold his ground in the interior, especially as a nose tackle in a potential switch to a 3-4 defense.

Because of his junior college time, Brown is more physically developed than high school prospects tend to be, which means he may see the field next year.  With the departure of Dan Williams, having this tree stump in the middle of the road is going to be a great asset for the Vols.
