UT Lady Vols take on Arkansas, 7 PM Eastern; Kamiko Williams to Start at Point
If there's one constant issue that Pat Summitt has had to deal with for the last two years, it's been finding somebody to play point guard. This year, Shekinna Stricklen has done an admirable job running the point, but she's a wing player who has had to make the move out of necessity.
But on Sunday, Kamiko Williams played terrific basketball against South Carolina - well enough to get the starting nod for tonight's game against Arkansas. It's a game that Tennessee should win: Arkansas is 9-12 overall, and only 1-7 in SEC play. They have often had difficulty in generating offense, which is not a good sign against the spirited defensive play that the Lady Vols have exhibited recently. And the game is in Knoxville - a place that the Lady Vols rarely get upset.
The focus on this game is simple: watch how Kamiko performs. If she holds he point and shows the talent that everybody knows is hiding underneath that freshman exterior, the team has a chance to build up for a very serious tournament run this year. If Williams can't consistently get it done at the point over the next few games, Summitt will still be looking for answers for the point position.
Go Lady Vols!

And this game's on 360, for those who weren't aware.

Anyone else here for this?

A bit sloppy, but it's kind of what you'd expect.
Arkansas had a nice sequence a minute ago (great steal on good UT ball movement, good breakaway), but coudln’t capitalize.

Cain with 6 boards already.
And we have our first double-double candidate.

I'm less concerned about Glory getting her points; she'll get 10 easy enough.

All kinds of foul trouble for Arkansas, too.

Arkansas's hit 4 threes and six total shots.
Guess how concerned I am that they’re hitting from downtown.

"You've got to defend the three"
…and they’re shooting 4-11 from beyond the arc. I think the Lady Vols are doing just fine.

They're almost trying too hard to be pretty.
They’ve tried to pick up a few slick passes and the like and they don’t need to do that. Just finish the job and move on; this is a working lunch, nothing more.

"Bigger than Arkansas at every position."
Anything you can do, I can do better. :)

Okay, double-double watch:
Cain – 6 points, 9 boards (3 blocks! come on, triple-double)
Brewer – 10 points, 3 boards
Glory – 5 points, 4 boards

That's what it is; the passes are just too hard, as weird as that sounds.

Everyone welcome Angie Bjorklund to the game!
Eight points in a hurry.

Double-Double Update:
Cain – 10 points, 13 boards (6 blocks!)
Brewer – 18 points, 6 boards
Stricklen – 8 points, 4 boards
We’ve got one on the board, and with 10 minutes to go it’s not impossible to see a triple-double.

And Cain just limped off after that eighth block; I'd be surprised if she's back.

She's back in, huh.

And the triple-double dream is dead.
That being said, Kelley Cain had a straight-up “no answer” night, and mercy on the Lady Vols’ opponents if half these passes end up connecting at some point.

The Lady Vols win comfortably, but ...yeesh.
Not pretty at all. Even walking off the court Summitt looks less than enthused.
On the plus side, it was fun watching Cain chase a triple-double.
