I firmly believe that not having a DC or a D-line coach on NSD was the reason our D-tackle recruiting fell short. Not that this could have been rushed or anything, but there you go.
Back to the story, I like this hire. Overall, this staff is going to feel much more like family to Vols fans.
True about the recruiting
But I believe CDD made a good decision on allowing Wilcox to interview CCS before hiring him. Even though it may have cost us a DT in the long run, it may have done more for staff chemistry which can lead to further success.
I have to agree with both of you guys about recruiting.
Though it is great to see him back in Orange, and I think he will bring a certain nastiness to our d-line.
Totally agree.
I have no complaints about the coach hiring process at all. Just an observation to help explain our one glaring deficiency. Given the timetable, keeping the problems limited to one position is really pretty impressive.
All-time sacks leader for the Atlanta Falcons
so he’s not just a feel-good hire for the Tennessee family…this guy knows how to succeed at the next level. Great move.

If I am not mistaken
didn’t CDD name his recruiting coordinator from LaTech the RC at UT as well? I think CLT deserves it, but I think it has already been decided.
