Tee Martin knows a lot about wide receicvers
At least he must know SOMETHING, right? Martin was recently hired as the wide receivers coach at Kentucky which begs the questions: What do these coaches actually do if they didn't have to play the very position they're in charge of?
Granted at least a quarterback throws to a receiver, but how much does he really know about playing the position? What makes things more awkward is that his head coach, Joker Phillips, was a wide receivers coach coming up the ranks. So will Martin just be in charge of telling the guys "Good job" during games?

This post is probably better for A Sea of Blue
but it does raise a question I had about these position coaches… how can they coach a position they never played or have no experience coaching?
And if this is a problem coaching-wise, is Martin primarily a recruiting hire?
I.e. a coach who’s here to help bring in talent?
The way I see it
It’s quite possible that Tee could be a very good WR coach.
Either you can catch or you can’t, nobody can coach that up at this level.
However, you can coach someone on their route timing and on how to be at the right spot when the QB needs you there.
It also depends a lot on scheme I’m sure. If UK’s offense is going to be one where the receivers are just gonna try to break press or beat man and go deep all the time, Tee probably won’t work out as a pure WR coach. If they are gonna scheme around a lot of QB/WR timing, then he might do very well.

And next November...
Tee Martin will take the Kentucky team bus from the team hotel to Neyland Stadium. He’ll exit the team bus on Tee Martin Drive to enter the visiting locker room in Neyland’s Southwest corner. Odd, eh?
