2010 EA Sports Elite QB Camp
This is probably not terribly interesting for general recruiting, but I gotta give a shoutout to my cousin Alex Ross from Buford (the winning QB in the state championship game lost by Nash Nance and Da'Rick Rogers), who finished in their top five. I'm not really a recruiting guy, so I don't recognize the other names and thus don't know whether this is something really exciting or just kinda good. Likewise, I don't know whether it means UT should look or whether he'll be going somewhere smaller. But it can't be bad.

whatever
All a bunch of “wannabes and woulda’ coulda’ shoulda’s”. NEXT!!
Thanks a bunch, voodoo
I know he’s not a high profile recruit and may not even end up at the SEC level, but wannabe is not accurate.

Keeping a close eye on Ross . . .
I.S. – PRISM Press Group (thanks for the shout out with the link) tends to agree with you. In much the same way that Chandler Carr from Bolles High School was overlooked for a majority of his prep career due to being a strong throwing presence on a running-focused squad, we think Alex could come from that same vein. We’ll be talking to Alex more extensively in the near future and would be glad to share that information with everyone here to provide a more “informed” decision . . .

Ross again
As I_S’ dad, I have a biased interest in my nephew as well, but this is not his first rather anonymous stellar performance. Last summer he was at an Elite 11 QB camp and, by reports, was the best QB at the camp. This included Jesse Scroggins. I was not there, but this was also the opinion of by brother-in-law, whose son is the 13 year old QB offered by Coach Snakeoil. Does anyone at UT know about Alexander (his mother hates “Alex”)?

Welcome
And your family wins the award for best screen names.
I sure hope somebody at UT knows about Alexander. It is early, but things are happening earlier and earlier. Do you have any idea just how high is he on Kiffin and Orgeron? Maybe he was just excited to get his first offer, I’m hoping.

It's my other cousin who is committed to Southern Cal
And he isn’t high on Kiffin so much as the school itself. Being in Delaware, he doesn’t have his own team to root for. He picked up on Southern Cal back in 2002 when they beat Iowa in the Orange Bowl (David was 6 years old at the time) and decided they were his dream school. Since then, he’s visited their campus several times and goes to the USC/UCLA game every year. However, he’s only in 7th grade, so he has time.
Alexander is a junior, and he’s still trying to get his name out there. He’s heard from Vandy, Auburn, Carolina (he said Spurrier was “weird”), and Clemson, in addition to several smaller schools, but I don’t know that he has any committable offers. One of his problems is that he plays for a run-heavy team (Buford), although it is a run-heavy team that is the reigning Georgia AA champions. Another is his height, as I think he’s only about 6’1. He just did this Elite QB camp in Orlando and finished 3rd out of ~75. However, the players behind him got significantly more press because they’ve received more attention from big schools. He’s been told by a lot of people that he’s a really good QB (apparently, the local football guys rate him higher than Nash Nance), but he’s still waiting for that first offer that gets more schools to pay attention. As of now, he’s attending camps (I know he’ll be at Spur Dog’s camp this summer), working out, and preparing for next year. My Aunt is sending around tapes, hoping that people watch them, and trying to make all the contacts she can. We’re not quite sure how that last part works. She wants to find out how to get ahold of Jim Chaney, given his past success with short QBs. Beyond that, she’s trying to get an idea of what schools are good for QBs, stratify them as BCS schools, mid-majors, and top I-AAs, and then see where to shoot.

Ah
Sorry about that. Just how many FBS QBs do you have in your family?

Haha, just the two
Alexander does have two younger brothers, but they’re both way young (one in middle school and one in preschool). Beyond that, we just have two HS athletes (football, wrestling) who didn’t compete in college, a one-year DII soccer player (that’d be me), and a non-athlete who’s shooting for a career in musical theatre (my younger brother). And seven girls who are doing various things (one I think is looking for a golf scholarship).

Thats awesome
I’ll keep my eyes peeled! It sounds like he’s got a lot going for him, and as Joel said with things happening earlier and earlier anything could break free.
That is still simply cool to have a relative in the wings possibly for the home field like that!
Good luck to him and ya’ll’s IS!
