Paging Doug Gottlieb
So ESPN released their weekly Power Rankings and the Vols are right now ranked at 15th, up 8 spots from last week's 23 after wins over Kentucky and Arkansas, which I think is plenty fair. The ten voters of the power poll voted the following: 13, 13, 15, 15, 15, 15, 16, 16, 18. You'll notice that's only 9 votes. Where's the tenth? Your guess is as good as mine. Doug Gottlieb, listed as an "ESPN Analyst" doesn't have the Vols ranked at all in his top-25 power poll ballot. My thoughts: really??!! A team with wins over the #2 and #3 ranked teams, according to the power poll, plus a solid resume with a few bad losses but plenty of good wins doesn't even rank in the top 25? He's apparently of the opinion that the Vols are completely garbage, too -- or he's just not paying attention. He didn't have the Vols ranked after their victory over Kansas, either.

Doug Gottlieb stole my wallet
Some say a comet will fall from the sky. Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still. Followed by millions of dumbfounded dips**ts.
Do you think guys at ESPN button their back pockets when he's around?
I would.

Gottlieb thinks we’re a bubble team with no good wins besides the obvious two, so I’m pretty sure the omission wasn’t an accident.
"no good wins besides the obvious two"
that is idiotic. especially when he doesn’t even hold the same standard to half of his top 25.
but how can you completely discredit 2 games?
There are alot of bad teams he has ranked that have no business being above Tennessee, but the fact he has Gonzaga ranked… Their best win was against Wisconsin all the way back in November. but since then they lost to Duke 76-41. They beat Memphis, who we also beat! Oh and they lost to San Francisco and Loyola Marymount. Yeah, they are better than Tennessee.
Doug Gottlieb must be on drugs
Obviously, home wins
are not real wins, just publicity stunts. And the more you use a jacked-up crowd to your advantage on national television, the weaker you really are!

I still think we need the MSU game more than people realize.
UT’s road/neutral kins are middling at best; we’re not in danger to miss the tournament but seeding is going to be hurt if we can’t win there or make noise in the tourney.
I guess Gottlieb puts way more stock in the road/neutral thing than most other people do (although it is the biggest mark against UT’s profile, the rest of it is more than deserving).

I think so too
It would greatly ease any worries about poor seeding. I think it would guarantee a seed no lower than 6, possibly no lower than 5. It would greatly aid our case at getting a 4.

Gottlieb pretty obviously wrote this team off after the arrests.
I was listening to an old ESPN:CBB podcast where he said more or less the above statement (this was prior to Kentucky). I mean, at least he’s consistent.

Aside:
I don’t want to be in the same pod as Cornell.
