Attendance at football this season...
I know the talk of the town is USC sanctions and conference realignment but I got something in the mail from UT today that gave me pause.
The University is offering many season ticket holders the opportunity to buy FOUR more SEASON TICKETS, in either the north or south end zone (lower bowel!!), for nothing more than the cost of the tickets----no extra contribution required. As a season ticket holder since 1986, I can tell you nothing like this has ever happened before.
I realize this can be a reflection of many things....including lower expectations this season, tough economy, etc., but obviously there have been 100's, if not 1,000's, of non-renewals from previous season ticket holders.
I don't like the thought of seeing gaping holes created by empty seats at Neyland Stadium but it is something we may have to withstand for a few seasons.

Even for those who don't currently have season tickets
you can get tickets for as little as a $100 annual donation (plus the cost of the tickets). Five years ago, that’s blasphemy.
Holy Crap
Even living 7 hours away, I might consider this. That’s a hell of a deal. I read somewhere else that UGA is lowering the required donation for season tickets as well. The minimum lifetime donation to become a first-time season ticket holder was dropped to $1550, down from $10651 two years ago.

Even at $1550
That’s a lot of Schlitz they have to give up in order to see a perennially overrated football “team”……..

Hello ladies. Look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me. Sadly, he isn't me.
And I'm pretty sure
That tailgating has been banned on the North Campus, due to the mess left behind after every UGA home game last year.
This is my second year
getting tickets in the $100 section. It’s uppper south endzone, but as long as you don’t mind risking sitting in front of the jumbotron, they’re pretty good seats. I’ve gotten out with $838 total last year and about $750 this year, ticket and donations together. It’s a pretty good deal, and you’re locked in at the $100 range for those seats until you decide not to renew.

Yeah it has...
but it has been a long time… think early Johnny Majors.
Even with the lack of season ticket sales, attendance was still good. Just a lot more walkups.
I'm not sure I want to sit there...

It's kinda sad?
After I got this in the mail about the 4 lowers, my seats are upper south endzone, I did see that UT is hosting a “Meet your seats” day where people can come to Neyland and literally meet their seats and purchase them for the season. Never heard of that either.

Away games.....
I received an email this morning from UT regarding an away game. Seems that there are tickets available for the South Carolina game in Columbia. If my memory serves me correctly, this hasn’t happened in recent history (in the last 7 or 8 years). I’m not sure what our allotment was for the S.C. game but I assume we got the same number that we always do…..but this time we couldn’t sell them all.
If you’re interested in a road trip, this would be a nice game to attend. It’s not too far from Knoxville and Columbia is not a bad town…..and based on my experiences, the S.C. fans have been reasonably accepting of a Big Orange presence. I’m sure some have had bad experiences——-that happens everywhere. My four trips there have been good though.
Georgia game....
I ended my post too soon……later this morning I got another email from UT. It was a little different than the notice about the S.C. game. It invites donors to buy additional tickets to the Georgia game. A “password” is included in the email to allow you to buy them online at the ticket office. Normally that’s a tough ticket to get and donors are usually limited to 4 tickets when they order their season tickets. But, just like the S.C. game, it would appear that we were unable to sell our Georgia allotment.
That would be a bad idea.....

That's a joke btw.

I got the same emails this year
and got zilch in away allotment last year…I’ve already been to UGA and Carolina. Both are great places to go.
