Hey look, basketball!
A couple of things we missed during the expansion/Trogans days of summer madness: one, Tennessee and Pittsburgh will square off in the 2010 SEC/Big East Invitational. The game will be the second part of a doubleheader at Pittsburgh's brand new Consol Energy Center, with Rutgers and Auburn in the first game. The Vols and Panthers will be on ESPN, Saturday December 11.
Two, the Pilot Rocky Top League held its annual draft last week, setting the rosters for league play that starts tonight at Bearden High School. The familiar faces for each team:
- Knoxville News-Sentinel: Scotty Hopson, Dane Bradshaw, Wayne Chism (when available)
- DeRoyal Industries: Melvin Goins, Jordan McRae, Ron Slay, Brian Williams
- Ray's ESG: Chris Lofton, Steven Pearl, Trae Golden
- Richardson Construction: C.J. Watson, Damon Johnson, Renaldo Woolridge
- First Tennessee Bank: Kenny Hall, Skylar McBee, Jon Higgins
- Choice Spine: Cameron Tatum, Tyler Smith, C.J. Black
You can check out all the complete rosters and the full schedule at the PTRL website. Admission is free and games are played twice a week (Tues/Thurs this week, Mon/Wed next two weeks) starting at 6:00 PM EDT at Bearden High School. It sounds like Chism will be in and out, and I know Tobias Harris is still recovering from his broken foot and won't play, but you will get a chance to see Jordan McRae and Trae Golden for the first time, as well as a fantastic group of ex-Vols. I haven't lived in Knoxville since they started this league, but have always wanted to go - if you make it out to Bearden any this summer, let us know what you thought.
