Wes Brown's Knees Vs. Wicked, Double-Whiff Spin Move: Best Plays of 2009 final

Finals, y'all. Finally.

Wes Brown's Knees beat Montario Hardesty's 20 Yards For 25 Years in one semi-final match up, but Hardesty got revenge by pulling what is regarded by many (including myself) as an upset by knocking off Denarius Moore's Flying Touchdown with his Wicked Spin Move.

So it all comes down to Knees and a Double Whiff. Once again, follow the links for the videos and editorializing. Voting remains open through the end of the weekend, and the winner will be re-posted Monday morning. Vote responsibly. History depends on it.

Had we numbered them

I think this Hardesty run was the 6 seed in the bracket overall, and here again it’s holding its own this morning. Interesting.

I'll concede that Hardesty has the better play.

However, given the story behind Wes’s kness and his passion for the team, I had to stay with my early pick and vote him as my #1. IMO, the heart of Tennessee football cannot be illustrated better than it was when Wes Brown carried the defender into the endzone. Hands down, my top play of the year.

This isn't a fair final

D-Moore should have been here instead of Hardesty!!

Well, this makes it easy

The [narrowly] best play has been eliminated, and the [clearly] second best play is an easy winner. Hard to be too upset. Wes Brown!

the people have spoken

Maybe the Flying Touchdown should go up against 20 Yards for 25 Years for 3rd place

Both are, without question, excellent plays

But my vote goes to Wes Brown, because it is representative of things larger than the game of football. Say what you will about the last coaching staff, but they did right by Wes Brown. They gave him every opportunity to succeed at playing a game he loved, knowing he wouldn’t be able to play ever again. That’s what good coaches do for their teams; provide opportunities for each individual to succeed.

If I hit a hole-in-one on this grand slam the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Love ya, Caban, but the fulmerizer never sleeps. Quoth the Caban:

Unpopular opinion…

as a Tennessee fan, but Lane Kiffin isn’t evil any more than Bear Bryant was evil for leaving Texas A&M. Do I think the guy is a douchebag? Yes… but he definitely did right by Wes Brown, and actually had significantly better discipline than Coach Fulmer ever did. I suppose that could be a result of a small sample, but I’m still convinced he would have eventually won big here if Pete Carroll didn’t head to Seattle.

That being said, Ed Orgeron is a supreme [FULMERIZED] and may have gotten us in SEVERE trouble all by himself.

(I couldn’t resist the hyperlink, though.)

And in answer to Caban,

I actually agree. Kiffin was many things, but one day prior to his departure, most Vol fans were fully on board with him. And of those who didn’t back Kiffin, most were simply spiteful about the way Fulmer left.
