SEC Media picks
put two Vols (Stocker, Reveiz) on the All-SEC second team, and pick Tennessee to finish 5th in the East. Full media results here.
Hooray for Reveiz, the second-team place kicker linebacker!

Some guy in an Auburn hat just planted himself on the front row
and is taking video with his phone. If he’d just take off his hat, he’d blend right in.

Oh, and yesterday
there was a pitiful guy hanging around the elevators not-so-subtly begging for a media guide. He may as well had an open guitar case at his feet.

Chizik took over the YouTube limit of 10 minutes
So the video cuts off a bit before he quits. Still, you’re really just missing . . .
. . . .

Q: Proposed new rule on how early you can make an offer
A: So many ways to recruit with these guys nowadays. I would have no problem with the new rule. Right now, you’re evaluating sophomores. Don’t know how it would be regulated. Verbal offers, though, could get tricky. The concept is something I’d be in favor of. It would be good to slow it down, but it’s hard to go backwards.

Q: How do facility upgrades give schools an advantage? Depth of class.
A: We have a great vision. Facilities are huge. You only have one chance to make a first impression. A wow factor is big. We want to have a lot of function, too, though, not just looking good. There’s a plan to continue to upgrade everything that we can because you have to.
Re: the 2011 recruiting, the state always has a lot of talent, and we’ll continue to start here. The state is the #1 priority, and we’ll move on from there.

Q: Offense scoring quickly putting pressure on defense
A: One of the things you want is to have explosive plays. We scored fast and quick. I’m good with that. How can we sustain longer drives? Getting first downs. Running the football. We’ll do some things to keep our defense off the field a bit more. On defense, we’ll continue to build depth and play better defense. It’s execution, discipline, accountability.

Q: Cam Newton, strengths and weaknesses
A: He’s a great young man. Done everything we’ve asked him to do, both on and off the field. He’s athletic, talented. He’s got experience. There are question marks like what he’s going to do when he plays in front of 90,000. But he’s done everything we’ve asked him to do, and a lot on his own. He wants to be a great football player. He needs to deliver. We’re excited to see how he responds.

Q: Is your offense the best way to sell your offense to recruits against Alabama?
A: We recruit against everyone in the country. There’s a ton of talent in this league. Productivity on offense helps us sell the program to a recruit who’s on the offensive side of the ball. We have playing time to offer. We’re going to be an explosive offense, hopefully, moreso than last year.
We just sell our product, and we recruit against everybody. Recruiting is about relationships and making sure no one outworks us.

Q: Zach [somebody]
A: Great kid. He’s put so much into Auburn football. When he got injured last year, we just wanted to make sure he was healthy. It’s been an emotional journey for him. Our medical staff has been phenomenal. We’ve all been on the same page. To get the news that he’s going to be able to play is an incredible feeling for our whole team.

Zac Etheridge
The kid who was injured his neck in the Auburn-Ole Miss game last year. He was temporarily paralyzed on the field, but is apparently going to play again. Good for him!
