Volunteer Expats - Orange Withdrawl
Aight, a few of us who haunt here are located out of the beloved state of Tennessee which makes our viewing the Vols somewhat problematic upon occasion. If you have decorated your truck in complete Orange, decorated the outside of your house orange, put up your Tennessee Volunteers tent in your yard much to the anger of the Mizzou fan next door, the Razorback Fan across the street, and the cows down the road then you get the general idea and you feel my pain.
Without TV access, Hanging in here with the rest of the RTT crew is an obvious choice, but lets face it, as much as we love hanging here we want to see that first touchdown of the season and our boys walk away victorious, no? We want to smell the grass lift from the field in High Definition and we want to see the tears of 'Bama fans as they leave the stands.
Thusly I propose we share some info here between those of us whom are constantly surfing the Internet trying to find that pay per view package, that pay per view event, that website, that broadcast channel that we can get out Vols on a screen or on a speaker so that we may share in the love the joy and the pain
First off Dish Networks website is a joke. So if your like me and considering signing up for the GamePlan package, be advised that the website is garbage to sort through. And don't bother with using the "Where's my Game?" search. It may just be where I am located, but every time I tried searching for a Tennessee game it came up with absolutely zilch and asked to buy the GamePlan Package instead. Then it would crash. Go figure.
Search Tennessee Volunteers and you get numerous listings for something involving women, nurses and shows your children can't watch. Besides I was thinking more along the lines of cheerleaders anyway And while I appreciate the idea that the words Tennessee Volunteers automatically equates to hot women, I really wanted cheerleader football not nurse programming.
There are a few websites out there where you can stream the game. Unfortunately with ESPN running a lot of the show it could be hard to find them as they love to scramble channels.
Whats left?
Game Day Tracker of course. Numerous play by plan visualizations from ESPN, SEC, SBNation and other assorted websites.
So here it is.
A Thread to stick what you find, a quick reference for all of us who are miles from Knoxville. Combine your infoo, pool your knowledge. Stick it in the comments. Book mark this section. Every week we'll see if we can find a way for you, I and other folks who crave to curb our Volunteer addiction. One person searching Google may miss something, but a slew of us, we just might be able to make it work.
Suggestions welcome.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to send off a nasty E-mail to Dish demanding some Volunteer cheerleader access

Being out of state causes new problems I hadn't contemplated
What do you mean not every state broadcasts all UT games?! Blasphemy! But alas, that’s what brought me to you guys here on RTT.
When espn3 (formerly espn360.Icrashtoomuchtobeworthit.com) is being silly, I’ll resort to justin.tv, but if there isn’t a posted link from someone, I find their search engine opposite of helpful.
If no video is available, I do have to resort to trackers, and I livestream audio of good ol’ Bob Kesling and the gang. while feverishly commenting on whatever thread we have going. :-)

channelsurfing.net will help
The search engine is useless, but if you just click on categories → sports, then you can browse and sometimes find something.

Also, atdhe.net has been wonderful for the World Cup and EPL
Didn’t know about it last year, but we’ll see if they do American football.

Will definitely give those a go come later in the season

When I moved to Massachusetts
I chose my ISP based solely on who had access to ESPN3. That’s covered me on all but the ESPNU games (for football). Fortunately, we only had three ESPNU games last year, and I found two on channelsurfing.net and the third I saw live (my gf at the time was from Lexington). There’s a group of UT alumni who meet at a bar in downtown Boston (which is actually pretty tough to get to from here), so if it’s getting close to the game and it’s looking bleak online, I sometimes head into town to watch. But I only did that once for football last year, and I found out that the game had been broadcast online anyways.

This is why I'm never leaving Knoxville :)
But take heart expats – in a few short years we’ll be back to late 90s-early 00s form, when there was one PPV game/year and CBS/ESPN for all the rest. GO VOLS!!!
I may be a little excited for the start of football.
I've used
A few of these justin.tv for example
Keep’em coming folks!
One of the reasons I did this, is that with the game Plan you have no idea what games are going to be shown in advance. And some folks would rather buy it for just the day of the game versus the whole package for the season.
So I figured lots of information is better than too little information

ESPN3 typically a decent source
Ever since moving to the Tampa area about years ago I was in the same boat as you guys . Luckily for me there is a huge Big Orange Club here and even though I am not the biggest fan of ESPN – ESPN3 does a decent job keeping UT games in the mix . And there is always streaming to WLAC to pick up the Vol Network .
Vol Fan in NJ - NYC area here
ESPN3 will work out nicely this Saturday. The last few years I’ve gotten a number of games on TV that I normally wouldn’t thanks to working at ABC, but I’m no longer working most weekends this year, so that’s out. There are no “Vol bars” or anything that I know of around here, I’m just used to watching it here in relative anonymity, with only my family as my fellow Vol fans in this state.
At the very least, the first three games will be available online
ESPN3 has picked up UTM (local blackout in-state) and Oregon, and CBS will stream Florida online.

Hrmm
I forget, is ESPN 3 only on line?
I’m a bit of TV neophyte as except for football and an occasional basketball game I never watch it LOL

Yes
But they televise material from ESPN, ESPN2 ESPN GamePlan, and whatever ABC game is not being televised in your region. For whatever reason, they don’t give you the ESPNU games. Now, unless they’ve changed their business plan, you can only use it if you ISP is on the list. Also, it’s free on college campuses and military bases.

Sweet
Thanks!
Now the question must be asked: Why don’t we have a RockyTopTalk Group on ESPN3 yet? ;)

I have one of those cables that links
my laptop to my tv, so I can watch espn3 on my tv.
