Given the National Championship drivel from the bammer fans, add to your Favorites now
I have no problem with Bama fans taking credit for AP/UPI national championships awarded before bowls were played. It bothers the author of the piece I linked for you. As for me, that’s how they used to do it – and that’s fine.
It’s the recreated national championships documented in this piece that will drive you nuts if you care what bammer fans think. Specifically, the 1925, 1926, 1930, 1934 and 1941 championships are stretches even for a fanbase that wants to support a team.
Every once in a while the fraudulent claims get annoying enough to respond. When you need to respond, he’s a handy Google-slap tool….

No doubt, Bear was the Greatest Coach at Alabama. Saban has a long career ahead of him to match that greatness. He’s certainly on his way. If Bama would just stick to the truth, it’d still be impressive and considerably less annoying. Why prevaricate when the truth should be enough?
I guess that’s kind of like asking “why cheat when you don’t have to?” Sort of rhetorical.
The COEXIST bumper sticker is ridiculous. How are people supposed to get along when one side is flying planes into tall buildings or wearing sweater vests full of C4 and nails? The faiths are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
Has anyone got a textbook to help Bama fans with the definition of "rhetorical"?
As for the definitive refutation, please note even this Bama-red flag waving “defense” has some holes in it. Using their own words….(bold – my emphasis, parens – my comments)
The university might be over-counting (the definitive study by Pete Holiday even admits it)

That all changed in 1983 when the university’s sports information director Wayne Atcheson added the five titles prior to Coach Bryant’s tenure in that year’s media guide. Today, he admits his selection wasn’t exactly the most scientific but they have come to be accepted as canonical by Alabama fans. (canonical by Bama fans, but wasn’t the most scientific or – the rest of us would say – wasn’t the most accurate)

it’s an explanation on why there is even a debate at all.

There is a big difference....
There is a big difference between Saban and Bear Bryant. Bear Bryant has over 300 wins and was respected at all levels of football. Nick Saban is just a PIMP. Signed the Miami Dolphins. :)
Nick Saban Media Days Reprise - reiterated to the point of being repetitively redundant
If Nick Saban is a Pimp, then his playas are ’ho’s.
And, if Bama’s fans pay to see the ’ho’s, then they are johns.
Take-off on the media reaction to Nick Saban’s observation that the NFL Agents are nothing but Pimps at the SEC Media Days. Rebuttal by the pundits who want NCAA players to be compensated is that Nick Saban is a pimp – profiting from their performance to earn $4M salary, or whatever it is. Just completing the image….
(I do love these metaphors by coaches….Did Saban think that one all the way thru?)
