Gentlemen in Orange,
I am writing to request some help. Three friends and I are undertaking a 10 day roadtrip from Raleigh, NC to Austin, TX. We will be sampling some of the best BBQ in the country as well as seeing 3 college football games. On Saturday we will be in Knoxville for the Tennessee/Florida game. We would like to tailgate with some of the Tennessee faithful before the game to get a true feel for the atmosphere at Neyland stadium. Because of the nature of our trip, we don't have all the supplies for a real tailgate (grill, etc). Would any of you fine Volunteer fans be willing to host us at your tailgate? We are not freeloaders - we'd be more than willing to contribute to the tailgate, perhaps providing beer or meat for everyone?
To let you know more about us, two of us recently graduated law school and that is the reason for the trip. I went to Michigan, while my friend atended Syracuse Law school. We are all from the New York / New Jersey / Connecticut area, but don't hold that against us. We are all in our mid-twenties, and we're easy enough to get along with as long as you like beer and football. As for the trip: we are going to be sampling Eastern Carolina Style BBQ, Western Carolina BBQ, Memphis style BBQ, and Texas BBQ. In addition to the Tennessee game, we will be seeing Cincinnati @ NC State as well as UCLA @ Texas.
If any of you are up to the challenge of showing us how the Volunteers do tailgating, please get in touch (my email address is in my profile).
