USC Blog: Reggie Bush "A Greedy Sociopath"
Around SB Nation's college blogs today:
- USC blog Conquest Chronicles calls Reggie Bush a "greedy sociopath" and says Bush giving up his Heisman Trophy is merely a PR move designed to protect his endorsement money (language warning).
- Alligator Army wonders who's leading the Florida Gators in light of the fact that official comments about Chris Rainey's aggravated stalking charge were made not by head coach Urban Meyer but by "the assistant that Gator fans hate and the lawyer that gives us the creeps." That'd be offensive coordinator Steve Addazio and Huntley Johnson.
- Purdue blog Hammer and Rails spins crisis into opportunity, saying the season-ending injury to wide receiver Keith Smith means Robert Marve will have to step up.
- Black Heart Gold Pants has a facetious top ten list of reasons Iowa will lose to Arizona this week.
- Testudo Times looks at the impact of West Virginia's indefinite suspension of starting cornerback Brandon Hogan on the Terrapins' ability to compete with the Mountaineers.

So I'll go on record as saying
1) That I am not shocked at all by Conquest ChronicLOL’s reaction to the story, and 2) that I am quite shocked by Bush’s reaction to the story. I think this is, in the end, the right move and I applaud him for it.

“Once again USC is humiliated because of his greed. He wouldn’t pay off those two clowns. . . " Am I completely misreading that, or did they want him to do what I think they want him to do?

I'll play...
What do you think we wanted him to do?
Pay them off?
He did that…only 4 years too late. Why did he take so long? What made him change his mind? The damage was done…the NCAA had enough to nail him even with all the other bogus testimony that the NCAA used to cobble their story together.
So much for fighting it…
We obviously don’t think that what Reggie did was right WRT taking extra benefits. It’s against the rules, he was deemed ineligible and the Heisman was going to be stripped…as it should have been. Many of us really don’t care about the award but we understand the sense of pride that it brings the institution.
We have heard Reggie say numerous times that when it all comes out he would be vindicated…obviously, that was not the case.
He was guilty as sin.
And yet he still stayed silent when there was enough evidence to deem him ineligible for the 2005 season (USC is disputing 2004 in their appeal).
Reggie finally gets religion and decides to return the Heisman…this is an admission of guilt without actually saying it because if it were me and if I was not guilty as was proclaimed I would have fought tooth and nail to keep the award.
This is Reggie simply trying to rehabilitate his image…the foundation he is setting up is a joke…what is he going to educate up and coming players on…how not to get caught or how to rat our your parents?
My anger comes from having to watch this charade for over four years hearing Bush was innocent when we all knew he was guilty and yet he did nothing. Then he decides to settle AFTER Lake meets with the NCAA…little late don’t you think?
And then after all that he basically rolls over and gives back the Heisman in what many see as an admission of guilt.
I would have preferred that he never took the money but seeing that he did why not just pay the guy off originally and never let it come to light?
Instead the story never ends, every week its something new and the cycle just keeps going around and around and around…
"What have they figured out?" "NOTHING." Lane Kiffin
"Mention USC to a Bruin and they get angry; mention UCLA to a Trojan and they laugh."
He said today that its not admission of guilt
hooo boy. Drama. Queen.

The ironic thing is that
not only do they have a greedy sociopath as an ex-rb and alumni, but also as a head coach.
