Preseason Vol predictions: last call
So, with our first game tomorrow, I thought it'd be a good time for everyone to give their final pre-season predictions. We can keep them here in this thread and then go look at them after the season. Sound good? Good. Okay, I'll go first.
Optimism is running high as we near kickoff, and I can't help but think we'll win a game we shouldn't. That game is LSU. Dooley knows what it takes to play in Death Valley, and I just don't trust Les Miles one bit. Also, we know we can convert third downs. Dooley winning his first SEC road game might indicate we'll take South Carolina in Columbia, and I think we fall short in that one before building late momentum against Memphis, Ole Miss (minus Masoli), Vandy, and Kentucky. The Music City Bowl jumps at a chance to take us, and we finally get our matchup against a North Carolina team in disarray after a season of fighting with the NCAA. You're welcome, bobo. And just like we always lose in Atlanta, we always win in Nashville.

I could be redundant but golfballs03 has it right. We have the exact same result - which means gb03 is doomed.
The COEXIST bumper sticker is ridiculous. How are people supposed to get along when one side is flying planes into tall buildings or wearing sweater vests full of C4 and nails? The faiths are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
I guess I'm just more hopeful than y'all
That somewhere in the first 6 games as an underdog, there’s an upset.

7-6 (3-5), closing the year on a five game winning streak
Will?! Are you okay?
I just want to be sure, you know. I saw something that didn’t look like 14-0 and I was worried about you.

You have no idea how hard it is to stay rational
Most of me really wants to argue for 10-2, because it’s so easy at this point to talk myself into Oregon, LSU, and Georgia all being wins. 6-6 is the dividing line between a good season and a bad one, and I expect us to finish on the right side of it.
Hey, Will! Welcome to the 6-6 Regular Season club.

UTM: W (Tune up game vs over matched opponent)
Oregon: W (Wilcox factor)
Florida: L (Too much talent, Brantley lives up to the hype, our D keeps it close but their D shuts the door)
UAB: W (May hang with UT for a while before UT grinds it out)
@LSU: W (Dooley’s prior experience vs LSU will pay off, as will coaching against the Madhatter, plus I’ll be in attendance and my rambunctiousness will elevate our team)
@Georgia: L (Close game vs a talented team but it being at UGA does us in as a jacked crowd refuses to lose to a Dooley)
Alabama: L (Good Lawd Bama is loaded)
@USC: L (Our secondary struggles with their tall WRs, OBC finally seems to have a serviceable QB)
@Memphis: W (Veritable home game for the Vols just in West TN)
Ole Miss: W (Just can’t trust a Nutt coached team, UT ought to be hitting some sort of stride by then)
@Vandy: W (Veritable home game for the Vols just in Middle TN)
Kentucky: W (Haven’t lost to UK in my lifetime, nail biter but UT pulls it out at home for 26)
8-4 and a Peach Bowl birth versus UNC. The Vols break the GA Dome curse and show Mike Hamilton why Tennessee never should back down from anyone…

@Georgia: L (This one is a toss up to me, but I feel the Dawgs are a little too good right now)
Alabama: L (Let’s hope we just keep it close?)
@USC: W (We stil have enough to beat the GCocks)
@Memphis: W (Long drive, short game)
Ole Miss: W (No Masoli, no problem)
@Vandy: W (Nashville is nice, Vandy will still be Vandy)

Music City seems to be the popular bowl choice. Against maybe…eh, Wake Forest? That’s a W to finish strong.
I live in Athens, GA, so if I could magically transform any of those Ls into Ws, it would be the UGA game. That would be a SWEET 7-5
I made my picks before Masoli
He makes the Ole Miss game a little more 50/50, but that team still has problems, and we still have revenge on the brain.

You can take the boy out of Tennessee, but you can't take make him stop wearing Orange.
Overboard
New on the block!
Predictions:
1. UTM: A given (W)
2. Oregon: Plus-returning starters, Minus-NO Masoli to run show.
Plus for Tenn-Neyland Stadium rocking!! (W). Close!
3. Florida: They have too many atheletes. (L)
4. UAB: Tough, but outclassed, (W)
5. @LSU: First big road test for Vols in the Death Valley. Miles figures
out how to loose. Blocked field goal at end. (W)
6. @Georgia: Dogs bite with unrelenting rushing attack. Ouch! (L)
7. Alabama: This time run over by stampeding elephant. We hung one from
a train crane in the railroad yard back in early 1900’s, up here!!
Her name was Mary and she killed somebody at the fair. (L)
8. @USC: Good DB’s and inconsistent QB. (W)
9. @Memphis: Basketball should be good according to their recruiting. (W)
10. Ole Miss: The Masoli factor. He’s on the wrong team! (W)
11. @Vandy: What can you say? (W)
12. Kentucky: There basketball won’t be near as good as last year!! (W)
9-3 record in a suprisingly good bowl. Too much blood letting in the SEC
this year. Probably in the Dome in Atlanta vs Ga Tech. (W)
10-3 with bowl win and maybe a top ten polling!! 11 hrs and 18 min to kick off
Go Big Orange!!
Welcome! I'm not sure if this is preseason enthusiasm (no issue at all with that) or if you have started drinking 11 hrs and 18 min before kickoff.

That puts us at 6-7 (3-5), which seems about right. I can’t quite pull the trigger on 5-7, but I can’t see an above-.500 season.

I simply can't see above .500.
I’d be more likely to change the UGA game than I would the Music City bowl, weird as that sounds.I really don’t trust depth right now, and it’ll catch up to us at some point.
