PrintEPSN College Gameday is in East Lansing today for the matchup between #6 Wisconsin and #16 Michigan State. LSU/Auburn is also a top 25 matchup, and let's face it, we care more about that one, don't we? Oh, and Stanford/Washington is a barely top 25 contest as well, but you know, west coast and all. And so there's us, bracing for the Tide and vowing to remain on our feet.
So here's the day's college football viewing schedule from the Tennessee perspective and the associated non-Tennessee football games thread. The all-Vol thread goes live at 6:15. See y'all there.

and the Big East, in general, is a mess
6 of 8 teams have exactly one conference win (Rutgers has 2, South Florida has 0). 6 of 8 teams have exactly one conference loss (Cincy has 0, South Florida has 2).
What does this tell you? South Florida is obviously beating Cincy

I completely agree, with the caveat that you need to at least figure out if the run is going to work before abandoning it. Balance is great, but not if it costs you first downs and points.
Let me put it this way...
Did Urban Meyer, or Steve Spurrier harp on balance as much as guys like Jim Donnan when they were at the top of their game?

See, stadium designers have no creativity whatsoever.
If they’d let me renovate Neyland, I wouldn’t have spent so much on the luxury seats and would have installed sound reflectors. Further, I would have added in baffles for the visitor’s seats in the upper level – something that either muffles them or reflects their sound back into them (so they think they’re louder than they really are).

What I do is find the model… and search for it on Google or Yahoo shopping, then sort for lowest to highest price. Usually takes a few pages to get through accessories, but there is generally a sale somewhere on the internet.

Really nice laptop… rated the #1 laptop by PCWorld.

400$ was my limit, so I was thrilled to get it. The only real complaint is the keyboard layout, it’s a bit odd with how they did it, but it’s got a numpad so I’m happy.

Everything above 7, I actually felt good about
everything 6 and below I didn’t. The underdog Vols are usually the line between what I think I know and what I’m sure I don’t. I think it was like 3 or 4 last week.
Again: 54th place. If we ever go 12-0 again, I guarantee a strong showing in the picks from yours truly.

So I figured it out. The SEC adds Missouri, any reasonable school from North Carolina, and either VTech or WVU.
One pod: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, the NC school.
Another: Tennessee, Kentucky, VTech/WVU, Vandy.
Another: the Alabama and Mississippi schools.
Finally: the four westerlies.
Then if we don’t like the 16-team conference, we boot out the westerlies and let them reform the SWC.

It has to be. And there's a certain "tough luck" that has to be applied here.
There’s just no way of evenly parsing it out, and besides, our non-pod schedule would include Alabama and either Georgia or Florida.
It works out well enough.

non-pod rivalries would certainly end up as Bama, Florida
and probably Arkansas. that’d put us at a disadvantage compared to the other teams in the pod. But, then again, we should be better than the other teams in the pod

See, it works better than at first blush.
The non-pods would skew against Tennessee relative to those teams.
I think the Alabama/Mississippi pod would sign off on it, and I think the westerlies would as well. It’d be Georgia, Florida, and SoCar that would throw fits.

honestly, as far as rivalry-building and keeping competitive balance, that’s probably about the best you can do. unless you added two more Westerlies instead, in which case you could have:
1: Florida, Georgia, Carolina, Kentucky
2. Vols, Vandy, Bama, Barn
3. Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, Arky
4. Westerlies
then we’d have Kentucky as a non-pod rival instead of Florida though.

But at this point, we almost have to add to only one side if we’re going to 16. I think it’ll be a lot easier to do on the East, but either way works. Splitting the two new ones would kill everything, though.

consider:
Pod 1: UGA, UF, USC, Auburn
Pod 2: Vols, Vandy, Kentucky, Easterly
Pod 3: Bama, Ole Miss, MSU, LSU
Pod 4: Arkansas, new Westerlies
Our crossover rivals are Florida, Bama, and Arkansas. Auburn obviously protects Bama, but is in the same division with both Georgia and Florida. Although that division does end up being quite a tough one, it protects rivals.

I keep forgetting about having multiple cross-pod rivalries. I’d personally like to minimize them (e.g. only one cross-rival per team, not one per team per pod), but it’ll probably end up having one from each pod.

you have to have one per pod
or else you have to rig the rivalries in such a way that every time a pod is paired with another for a round robin, the rivalries open up in such a way that they can be distributed elsewhere. for instance, when Tennessee’s pod plays Alabama’s pod, there’s an extra conference game that Tennessee and Alabama need to find elsewhere

I think there might be a way to handle one non-pod rivalry
but it’d be very complicated. and the pod system still gets you every team once every three years anyways, which isn’t terrible
