RTT Podcast Tonight at 9:00, Tennessee-Vandy, and Tennessee-Duke
RTT is doubling up this week with podcasts on both Monday and Tuesday night. Tonight we talk the dramatic Tennessee-Vanderbilt game, whatever happen(s)(ed) against Duke in Maui (the game thread for which goes up at 4:30), and the Lady Vols -- gasp! -- losing yesterday in OT.
Tomorrow, we have the guys from SB Nation Kentucky blog A Sea of Blue to talk about the upcoming football game between the Vols and the Wildcats. And we'll probably heat up some leftovers from tonight.

Men's Hoops:
It’s early, obviously, but a win tomorrow against Memphis at 2:00 PM might mean we should consider re-evaluating goals for the year. The team is playing really hard defense, and if Trae Golden is able to continue playing at a high level with great passing and scoring, I think we can compete against the SEC. Maymon is so much improved from last year, especially at FTs, that his continued development is a big thing to keep an eye on. He got a ton of good looks inside against Duke today but couldn’t seem to get them to go down consistently. And he should not ever never shoot 3s.

Which is me saying:
I don’t think our 2009 team was very fundamentally bad, and Pearl teams his last 3 years played great half-court defense. In fact, that’s how we won, along with great performances by some real great scorers. We didn’t really light up scoreboards once JP and Lofton graduated.

Better situational awareness.
When not understanding the play, that “checkdown to Poole” was a pretty good decision.
my dream bowl is still Georgia Tech in the MCB
they have more name recognition than UNC or UVA or anyone, and the option is completely beatable with extra prep. Georgia Tech has averaged a 25.3 to 8.0 loss in bowl games since Paul Johnson took over.

I.e. if Vandy wins, does Wake have a shot at going? If Wake wins?
by David Hooper on Nov 21, 2011 10:42 PM EST up reply actions
Wake is ahead of both NC State and UNC in conference, and tied with Georgia Tech
but it depends on how the selection committee is thinking. I assume they get picked behind Tech, but it’s a tossup with UNC and State.
That said, the MCB is the ACC #5 selection. The Charlotte nonsense bowl thing is the #4. I could see them taking a local school and letting Tech (or UVA, depending on who the Sun Bowl picks) fall.

I really think it's going to end up being Virginia
if they lose Saturday. VT/Clemson will go Orange/Chick-Fil-A. Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando gets the next choice, which screams Florida State. Sun Bowl is next – I think travel will be a non-factor here because no one will really go that far, so they’ll take Georgia Tech. Then the Belk Bowl in Charlotte – that screams NC/NC State.
Given the choice between UVA and UNC/NC State, I think the Music City would take UVA
by Will Shelton on Nov 21, 2011 10:45 PM EST up reply actions
that leaves the Independence and Military (DC) Bowls
for UNC/NC State and Wake
by Will Shelton on Nov 21, 2011 10:46 PM EST up reply actions
I think the MCB would love to set up a rematch of last year
but if the Sun Bowl takes UVA over Tech, I think GT just having more credibility than UNC would put the Jackets in Nashville.
If the Sun Bowl takes UVA and the Belk takes Wake or State, the MCB shouldn’t have too hard a time talking themselves into UNC over UVA, especially since UNC beat UVA pretty convincingly.
