Things I want to see:
More Ariel. Specifically, to see how far along she is.
More Baugh, especially off the dribble.
More successful free throws.
This is hilarious.
The video feed shows the Chicken Bucket video, but without the audio. Right now, I’m watching arrows leaving TBA while listening to Sports Animal ads.
Starters:
Simmons, Spani, Massengale(!!), Johnson, and Stricklen.
Baugh is not playing tonight (Tuesday evening class), so scratch my one want-to-see.
Tuesday evening class?!
How’d that happen?

LVs play almost all their games on Sunday-Thursday.
Baugh’s a grad student, so evening classes are more common.
I'm a grad student here, my last class ends at 6:30 on tuesdays and thursdays.
It’s not uncommon.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

I had that pain as well.
Hers seems to be a one-day only deal because it won’t interfere with the Thursday games.

I like using Glory in pressure situations in the backcourt, though.
Especially with short PGs.

Upside: Spani had her head up, looking around the entire drive.
Downside: Simmons is still way too shot happy.
Glory's got an impressive first step out.
I’m sure I saw it last year, too, but it’s really noticeable right now.

Great play by Massengale
to recognize the only possible outlet and when it’s coming. Too easy.

Oh yeah, Stricklen can shoot threes too.
Surprise!

Massengale with the one-man trap.
That’s good news.

She did a very nice job of keeping her hands off the PG.
That hand check rule has been our bane for the last couple years.
7 rebounds for each team (2O/5D for both).
That’s not going to last if the LVs value their eardrums.
That was ....kinda dumb.
Sorry, Manning.

Burdick is not fast.
Not really sure how to put that, but it’s weird to see her on the perimeter.
Formerly 'snail. You get used to it after a while.
And it doesn't seem to get her anywhere very quickly.

There was a GVX article about that.
Moshak is breaking down her gait and rebuilding it. That will take a while.
I figured it was getting worked on.
Just was unexpected. I’m too used to Glory and Stricklen.

She's a bit flatfooted.
Needs to get on the ball of her foot more and let the leg’s natural spring do its thing.
She'll have games like this.
Plz to have against Baylor?

Hoop, you having buffering issues?
Pretty sure it’s on my end, but not totally sure.

We're on a 10-11 turnover pace this game.
Is that where we should be? Preseason, but overmatching the opponent.
So 16-17 against better teams, then.
I’m not …happy with it. But it’s not surprising.

That being said, we should be able to force 20+ with D like this.

by Chris Pendley on Nov 8, 2011 7:30 PM EST up reply actions
Yup.
I’ll be curious to see if we’re this aggressive in the season. A lot of this has to be practice, but if the team can handle it and if the rotation stays deep enough, why not?
It'll settle on 8-9, I think.
Same problem we had last year, I think. Massengale, Simmons, Spani, Manning, Burdick, Harrison, Glory, Stricklen. Who am I missing? Kamiko, when she comes back?
Formerly 'snail. You get used to it after a while.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 8, 2011 7:34 PM EST up reply actions
Right.
Honestly, Harrison’s probably the first to go out of that rotation. Maybe Burdick.
Formerly 'snail. You get used to it after a while.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 8, 2011 7:37 PM EST up reply actions
Depends on the opponent, I think.
Harrison’s better at the post and would make for a very tough rotation for a team with only one real post. Burdick is surprisingly good on the perimeter for somebody who looks so goofy when moving.
"Simmons reaches in and pulls out a foul."

So I was in a meeting today. They had pictures on the walls of former committee chairs.
I’ve been there before, and I’m always distracted by one picture with some woman wearing the world’s largest lapels.
Pat Summitt is wearing that suit tonight, I swear.

I bit my comment tongue so hard on that.
Wanted to make a comment, but wanted to let him have that one.
Starting lineup?
Massengale, Simmons, Baugh, Stricklen, and Spani would make sense, but would leave Glory on the bench.
Glory instead of Spani?
Massengale, Spani, Stricklen, Glory, Baugh.
I wonder if not starting would help Simmons focus, but I think I’d swap between Spani or Simmons.

I'm 95% sure that Manning is much better off the bench.
This way she doesn’t have to pace.

So. . . anybody hanging out for MAC Tuesday?

Hrm. Knew that 3 A/TO wouldn’t last.
Ups: free throws, tempo, full court press, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$pani (approximately)
Downs: ball control, Simmons tunnel vision (SimmonsVision™ ),
Also up: the three freshmen. They’ll work quite nicely, thank you very much.

Toledo up 49-42 after playing a 63-60 game last week. God bless the MAC.
Tennessee fans roll their eyes when I talk about Vandy, Vandy fans become ill when I talk about Tennessee.
A couple notes:
Toledo has turned the ball over 6 times and will likely win if they get the onside kick.
WMU ran 80 plays in 20 minutes of game time.
We’re close to 1500 total yards in the game.
I love the Arena league rule...
where the clock stops inside of 2 minutes if you don’t advance the ball.
that works too.
about 1440 total yards in the game. yeeeeeeeeeesh.
6 turnovers and still wins the game.
