Derek Dooley kicks off spring practice for Tennessee football with a press conference at 11:30 Eastern. You should be able to listen here. How many awesome quotes should we expect this morning? I'm going with three.

says he gained 30 pounds?!
did I hear that right?

This would make more sense
either that or he meant 30 by September

If he gained 30 since the MCB, I don't want that 30.

Maybe he goes to LV games
and has been enjoying the chicken tenders over the last few weeks. ;-)

That's where BWill put it.

Not 30 lbs of weight gain
He said he gained 30 pounds on his core lift, which I guess is a type of weight lifting. He didn’t mention his own weight to my knowledge.

Rumor is the fire alarm went off in the media complex
thanks to a mattress burning inside the building.

Don't know if the mattress part was serious or facetious,
but the fire alarm part is real.

Message Board meltdown
A poster on VolQuest says there are 5 fire trucks and 4 police cars at Neyland. We’re one basketball assumption away from a Mexican Standoff.

Janzen Jackson "seems to be managing his life well, is on pace to come back"
but still will not be involved in spring practice
Brent Brewer served a five week suspension, is suspended for one session of summer school
but Rucker tweeted earlier that his charge will eventually be dismissed, and Brewer won’t miss any time in the fall
Daniel Hood now playing defensive tackle
Montori Hughes missing first two practices of spring for team rule violations. Hooray, no progress!
Good, long quote here about the difference between
holding each others hands and supporting each other (last year) vs. trying to win championships with a common purpose, and finding the leadership to do so (this year)
Using what measure?
'11: Minimum Goal: 9-3 Regular Season. Given FSU's non-con slate, don't care who the 9 are.
'10: 7th in offense, 41st in defense. Division Champions. 10-4. (6-3)
'09: 8th in offense, 88th in defense. 7-6 (4-4)

Apparently he made a joke that I missed when I lost my connection for a sec
about what he learned in year one: “When they say the game is over, it’s not.”
Good stuff on Tyler not knowing exactly where the ball is supposed to go on plays
and thinking, “Maybe I’ll learn that tomorrow, but today I’m just going to throw it to that guy for a touchdown”
That was fantastic
Nice chuckle out of that one.

On offensive line struggles in the running game:
“Great backs make yards – it energizes the offensive line, not the other way around.”
Good laugh about who's going to return punts this spring
“Tinkerbell didn’t do this (makes wand motion) – it’s the same guys.” The real punt returners will show up this fall.
Finally turning a page
Hardly anyone of consequence left on the team with an emotional tie to Fulmer. Kiffin was so short that it hardly seems like he was ever here, probably same for the one class that he recruited and coached. His guys, what’s left of them, will be Juniors this year.
Things are finally settling down and it feels good.
