Well
He’s been the Head coach of my school for about 4 years now, and he’s taken us to 3 winning seasons whereas before our basketball program could be compared to the Sahara.
Missouri State U is a relatively small school in the grand scheme of things but it’s the second largest in the state of Missouri. We’re part of the Missouri Valley Conference/Independent. Grand total of students is about 20k, not including our remote sites.
He’s a Missouri native, who previously coached in Vancouver and Milwaukee. He’s Purdue graduate, and was actually listed as a High School legend by ESPN when he played for St Louis.
All that said, this hire just about demolished my idea of creating a MSU sports website. With Counzo we at least had a sport worth blogging about. Our football team doesn’t fare so well, as we’ll probably see once again in the season opener against Arkansas.

Not every hire has to be a home run.
Duke was a Top Tier ACC program when Coach K was hired from West Point and he led them to one NIT.
Though it took him a few years to get to an NCAA appearance, it’s hard to disagree that getting Coach K was the right move at Duke.
He has been a respected coach among other coaches and that says a lot. Martin also is a former NBA player and can give insight to the current team about what that is like.
He's the men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee!
So he has my support.

Thanks, BloodSpite
I meant no disrespect to Coach Martin. I was honestly reaching out to learn more. Sorry for your loss. From what I’ve read and heard, I’m all in!
No worries amigo!
I was pretty shocked when UT picked him up. Last thing I expected quite frankly.
