Me, too
It really does remind me of Bruce, v.1.

I'm pulling for Butler
Just because I think they have a better chance against UK/UConn than VCU does.

I agree with you
But aside from pace of play and the fact that I live in the Commonwealth, my driving influence is that I want to be able to say we beat the National Champion.
fair enough
this is solid motivation.
Butler’s playing well on the glass though.

Nice run here for Butler
8-0 and at the line for more

So who are you rooting for in the next game?
by Joel Hollingsworth on Apr 2, 2011 7:39 PM EDT reply actions
Natural disaster
I can’t bring myself to be happy for UConn, even if it’s at UK’s expense. I think I would least mind seeing VCU beat UK in the final.
Yeah. I sort of go vicarious at this point. I hate KY and Calipari, but I like Glenn and Ken. I just know them better than Andrew just because we see KY so much.

Butler’s doing a very good job of getting back on defense quickly.

I really like these two teams
Really, really active on both sides of the floor.

VCU is 6 of 19 (31.6%) from 3
first time all tourney they’ve shot under their 36% from the regular season
people had to see this coming
You can’t keep this up six games in a row. And Butler plays good perimeter D.

VCU needs one more three
for the NCAAT record
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 8:20 PM EDT reply actions
Though the point is probably already made for those who want it
VCU’s loss is good for those who further oppose tournament expansion
Degree of difficulty for UK getting to this point is so much higher
You can argue that Ohio State, UNC, and West Virginia are all better than anyone UConn has played (SDSU)
but, UConn is still on the roll from the Big East Tournament
and lots of quality wins there. This is a such a great matchup, I wish I didn’t hate both of these teams.
agreed
the meteor is losing early. :-(

Kentucky has taken how many more shots?
with the big edge in TOs and OREBs. yet they’re down 7. I guess shooting 23% will do that to you.

"what do you need to do in the 2nd half?"
“keep playing defense, but add rebounding”
“how do you do that?”
“get the ball off the backboard.”
How informative, Jim.

off topic
New great Dooley quote, responding to “is the defense ahead at this point?”: “Both [units] are behind. I don’t know who we’re behind, but we’re not ahead of anybody.”

Good news:
Rajion Neal is awesome against the second team

8-0 UK run to start the 2nd half
and it’s still going
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 10:26 PM EDT reply actions
was the shooting like this in the other game?
I don’t recall
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah
seemed stiff, I thought, especially at the rim for VCU in the first half
by Will Shelton on Apr 2, 2011 10:33 PM EDT up reply actions
2nd half you mean?
Butler certainly did better in the half where they shot left, as has both UConn and UK so far.
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions
yep
and foul on a three. . . Liggins is a Pajamas-type defender.

Kemba's ankle could be a storyline on Monday
he’ll be fine the rest of the night, but it’ll be interesting to see if it swells
but UConn is 1 of 12 from deep
so they’ve given it back
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions
that was bizarre strategy
But Kentucky got lucky. Have a chance to tie or win
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 11:09 PM EDT reply actions
looks like UConn and Butler
Go Bulldogs!
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 11:12 PM EDT reply actions
nice three there for Knight
But UConn can make their FTs

also, our department admin
who didn’t know what March Madness was, just won my pool
by Incipient_Senescence on Apr 2, 2011 11:16 PM EDT reply actions
Wow.
I simply can’t believe that a John Calipari team couldn’t hit free throws in a critical game in the tournament.
On a related note, I won 3 of the 4 pools I’m in thanks to UConn’s victory and should finish no worse than 5th in ours. Now finish the drill, Butler.
Formerly 'snail. You get used to it after a while.
