Not trying to start early
But it’s the highest post up here, so ESPN and SBNation are showing the firing of Butch Davis. Maybe something to touch on in the podcast, unless you make a separate post on RTT where comments can be made. I’m sure glad we didn’t lose a coach at this point in the “season”, ugh, right before fall practice. They’ve certainly been talking about it on the sports shows here in Raleigh. What a downer, but I have a hard time feeling too sorry for UNC after than game we won against them in December.
you're in the Triangle too?
didn’t know that. I haven’t been listening to the local sports shows, but I’m sure that’s getting a ton of play. I still can’t imagine what’s behind this, because it has to be either a horrific discovery in the NCAA investigation or criminal idiocy on the parts of the UNC administration. And Virginia Tech is now an even bigger favorite in the Coastal.

The first time Virginia Tech will be an underdog
will be in the ACC title game against Florida State

they're having bonus coverage, Incipient
On 99.9 The Fan, apparently it’s a big deal in the Triangle, don’t know why. In fact they need more SEC coverage, I complained to the local CBS station once (heh heh) when they were showing the ACC game of the week instead of Tennessee’s noon CBS game. Wolfpack fans are cheering in the streets, probably. REALLY bad timing on UNC’s part, the week before fall practice.
doesn't Florida have serious O-line woes?
in addition to their question marks regarding the offensive system?
regardless, Carolina, LSU, Bama, and Florida State look like losses from here, and UT and UGA will have a shot.

Yeah
They lost four starters, I think. Although one of them was a Pouncey, which could be an improvement. Assuming the new guy can snap.

I'll go ahead and say right now
I don’t want Richt with his back against the wall against Tennessee. Fulmer saved his job against Georgia (possibly more than once), and I saw last year what happens when Georgia thinks Richt is gone with a loss.

Having a team in the corner
Is never a good idea. Would prefer a beatdown rather than a Hobnail Boot game. In fact, I could tolerate a beatdown of it meant keeping Richt’s incompetence for a few more years. That statement sounds like some of UT’s opponents at the end of Fulmer’s time.
maybeso
but we need some wins against someone to give Dooley some momentum, and Georgia is as good a candidate as any. Perhaps South Carolina too, even though they’re better. I think we might matchup better with them.

I was always root for a Tennessee win
But if we have to lose, I’d like to keep the bad coaches on other teams where they are.
I don't know why
But the past few days, I’ve been really in the mood to see a Tennessee-Texas football game. The Real UT vs. The Secondary UT (that wants to use their their network to recruit high schoolers, much to A&M’s anger). Sometimes, I’m just amazed at the seeming cockiness of some Longhorn fans, their school can’t be that amazing? (The realignment discussions on their SBNation affiliates [Texas, A&M, Oklahoma] has been fun to watch.)

looking at the Butch Davis stuff
saw Incipient on Carolina March. NC State (Backing the Pack) is in celebration at their blog. Carolina March is sad, but with little comments. 2 comments so far, 1 from incipient. Sad when one UT fan constitutes half the comments on UNC’s blog over Butch firing. Good job for representing Incipient.
lol, thanks
that’s a pretty slow blog. I’m not sure where all the UNC fans on the internet go, but I guess it’s just not SBNation

find it funny
That two people in the Triangle are listening to the RTT podcast live, yet no one in Tennessee except those in the call itself are on it, though it’s perfectly fine if other fans listen later.
nice call on Carolina's schedule
I didn’t realize it before, but they are definitely favorites in 11 games (and only @UGA and @MSU will have short lines).

additionally (re: Arky)
Ryan Mallett’s horrendous interception to end the Sugar Bowl. They were in position to win.
And a couple really terrible calls against Auburn (one gave AU a TD, one negated an Arky TD).
They could’ve easily been 12-0 last year.
But I think they’ll win at least 9 games, regardless of the schedule. They have a good team, and Petrino will always have a good QB.

Is it just me
Or does Tennessee’s SEC West schedule always seem to end up against the tougher teams out there. When they play us they’re good (or at least better than usual), they are worse when we aren’t playing them (or just stay good for the most part, aka Bama).
at least recently
we got Ole Miss when they had a good team in ‘09, we got Arkansas for two consecutive McFadden years, missed them in Petrino’s year one, and get them again now that they’re good. We played Auburn in their 14-0 year, although we did also get them in the season that got Tuberville fired.

that got them to the playoffs? and then they sucked again last year and Butch Davis got fired?

I thought it was kinda a place that everybody went if they happened to be in Utah, but maybe you didn’t make it into SLC enough. I have no idea how far it is from Provo.
But it’s probably the best Mexican food I’ve had (not that TN is known for good Mexican).

Provo
is about 30-40 minute car ride south of SLC. Salt Lake is up where the U of U was (boo!).
I knew UU was there
But I just thought everything in Utah was really close together because of all the desert.
I was up in the area this winter, skiing at Alta (which was pretty awesome, even though it made me feel like a novice looking at all the regulars).

funny enough
Not much of a skier/snowboarder, though I was this close for 4 years. Ironically, not everything is close together. Though like 10-20 miles south of Provo, the buildup ends and it becomes open land for miles and miles.
ate me some Bojangles tonight
Man, I wish they had a Krystal in the Triangle. Put that next to a college campus, like the one on the strip in Knoxville, they’d do well, plus I really miss eating those things.
I'm missing my favorite joint from my first grad school days
Carl’s Steak and Burrito. They had the best cheese steaks I have ever had, and it’s not close. The smalls had 1 lb of meat and the larges had more, and they were piled high with cheese, and I’m making myself hungry. . .

how bout you incipient
you think they should get a krystal? But, at least they have Goodberry’s in the Triangle, wow, their custard is amazing!!
krystal is actually not part of my childhood memories
I’m from Upper East Tennessee, where we have Pal’s. and Pal’s trumps all other fast food, so the rate of Krystal-obsession is much lower
And they shouldn’t get a Pal’s here, because I gain too much weight whenever I visit home already. lol

Krystal is in there good form my childhood. When I’d fly home to RDU, I’d hope I’d go through Atlanta because they had a Krystal in the airport, yum. Was always ticked when I missed it or didn’t have time.
