RTT Podcast Tonight at 9:00 ET with Doug Gillett, David Wunderlich, and Brandon Larrabee
We've pre-scheduled Doug Gillett of SB Nation Atlanta and EDSBS, David Wunderlich (Year2 of SB Nation SEC blog Team Speed Kills), and Brandon Larrabee, also of Team Speed Kills, to wrap up the RTT Volunteers Kickoff preseason podcast series. Doug contributed a humor piece on college football realignment to the annual and another with five predictions for college football this season, David took on the issue giving birth to his screen name, and Brandon wrote on the SEC's dominance of the BCS. But it's not like nothing's happened in Knoxville over the past couple of days, either, so be prepared to veer off topic.
Hope to see you on the podcast tonight. Here's the pertinent info for that:

Thank you, sir. If memory serves, that was the first one I guessed. It’s our year, I’m telling you. ;-)

I liked the denim guess
for the record, the only reason I remembered is our “silver anniversary” win against Kentucky in ’09. Figured gold was the next option

NC State! NC State!
C’mon, David, you’re a North Carolina resident. Don’t you want more SEC in the area?

But don't you see, we don't care about that
Because we already play Alabama. I’m not sure you’re looking at this holistically :-P
and we'd have the easiest cross-division game
that helps Tennessee more than anybody

Either LSU or Arkansas are talented enough to win it all at 11-1
of course, Les Miles is good for at least two losses a year.

“it’s Virginia Tech” can be said about South Carolina as well. and USC has a WAY harder schedule

# of title games VT has played for in the last 30 years: 1
- of titles games UGA + USCe have played in: 0
Personally, I had Arkansas #8
If they didn’t get both LSU and Bama away, they may be the favorite in the conference

Yeah, maybe
Not having a RB, though, can make passing hard, no matter how good you usually are at it.

based entirely on schedules
“2012 or 2013” seems crazy to me:
2012 road/neutral games: NC State, Georgia, USC, Vandy, Mississippi State
2013 road/neutral games: Oregon, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky

What has Weis done since being with the Patriots?
Failed at ND…was part of a KC turnaround, but Jamaal Charles was a beast…I don’t think he’s been good in 7 years.

SEC East odds:
Georgia +180
Florida +190
South Carolina +200

Kentucky +3300

the $$$ is coming in on South Carolina
because it’s a lot closer than it was. But I agree with the surprise about the ordering, when it came out and where it is now.

South Carolina?
at UGA
at Arkansas
at Tennessee
It’s a long ways away from a certainty…
……
Also, I don’t get why it elicits laughter for UT to win the east.
It’s a weak division, and we weren’t that far from winning it last season.
see my above comment
I don’t disagree

from Rucker:
So … Vols Fr RB Marlin Lane dropped back to return the first punt of tonight’s mock scrimmage, and you’ll never guess that happened…

Absolutely...
We were tied with South Carolina late… Florida needed a fake punt to take control, and we went toe to toe with Bama for a half. LSU was beaten except for, you know…
Dooley more than acquitted himself in year zero.
we're a second last play and the last six against Carolina
from winning it

a comment I saw that I wouldn't have thought myself:
Waggner was really bad at safety last year. He was at SS. He is not a SS. This year, he gets to ball-hawk at FS. That’s a LOT better.

Look at the secondary this way
2010 starting secondary: Janzen Jackson, Prentiss Waggner, Eric Gordon, Art Evans
2011 starting secondary: Brent Brewer, Prentiss Waggner, Marsalis Teague, Justin Coleman
Which one do you feel better about?

2010...
right now…. just because Janzen Jackson is a fantastic player. Future NFL starter in a perfect world.
In the long term, 2011 could be better… depending on Coleman.
I highly disagree
Janzen Jackson is better than Brent Brewer.
2011 Prentiss Waggner is better than 2010 Prentiss Waggner
Teague is better than Gordon (as proved by beating him out)
Coleman is better than Evans (as proved by beating him out)

Montana?
Severe QB issues,,, still a competition.
Strong safety is incredibly weak… special teams is questionable, except their kicker is high FBS quality,
Brent Brewer a sophomore, right?
Hey, just caught the very tail end of that, but I heard Brad say that Brent Brewer could go pro after this year. Isn’t he just a sophomore and thus ineligible to go pro after this year? Is it different because he’s older or something? Thanks…
it's not junior year
it’s three years after high school.
so Byron Moore could actually go pro as well, if he somehow became dominant

Is Larabee...
cocknfire?
Because he has a bad habit of overreacting horribly, and im just curious having not heard the whole broadcast
He is an excellent writer...
and I have mucho respect for him, but he does like to react quickly.
Sometimes that leads to some wackiness, but once again… he is a fantastic writer.
