Rocky Top Tenne…
Wait, what? We just hired an Alabama boy as AD?
Ew!

Rumors are he'll be taking Bama's compliance director as well...
Mike Ward. What’s the over/under on the number of minutes it takes for us to see Clay Travis trying to back away from his suit store articles?
Fumbles. It was always Fumbles
I've got a great idea
Let’s hire this guy and let that be the end of the crazy ride we’ve been on for the last 3 years.
Might as well welcome him into the job the right way. First question:
Why are we backing out of our game with Oregon?
Follow-up:
Why couldn’t we cancel with Western Kentucky or South Alabama?
Next question:
When is North Carolina going back on the schedule?

Followup:
Will you sing Rocky Top all night long after we beat Florida, or just Alabama?

Have you given the NCAA copies of the paper trail for Alabama’s undeclared violations over the last few years? What are you waiting for?
Is there a factory for Bama-banged QBs, or is Auburn’s QB-cloning facility the only QB mass production facility in the state?

What’s the higher priority, playing another FCS team or begging boosters for money to build yet another workout room?
Exactly how much did it cost the university to buy out of our commitment to Oregon?

This is why they only let the press in to those news conferences...

I bet we'd come up with a pretty good slate of questions.
It’s the “uncomfortably candid” part that would keep us from ever getting credentialed.
Yeah, I think we'd be fine.
But I really want to paint that mustache.

I hate Alabama.
Better off if we had hired a former Compliance Facilitator from the Soviet Union.
This guy better piss and bleed orange.

I'm inherently a little distrustful of the Vice Chancellor bit.
Having the athletic department somewhat separated from the academic side of things has been largely beneficial. Having watched our Faculty Senate, I just don’t trust them to be any further involved, which I fear this new title may allow.
I'm gonna guess that was mostly executive-speak?
Anything useful in there?

This looks like a homerun hire by any definition of the word
I’m not sure why there are some folks grumbling about it. We hired a guy from Alabama. Alabama didn’t want him to leave. That means this hire both helps Tennessee AND hurts Alabama? Isn’t that the ideal? The best thing ever? Answer: yes.

Agreed - I like it.
My concern medium-term is that he’ll want to bring in “his guys”, so we’re in for yet another round of coaching changes. That being said, that would happen with anyone. But from what I can tell, he sounds like the guy.

that's also my only concern
but he seems like he and CDD would get along great.

It'd be more likely in the other sports.
If Dooley does well, there’s no way he interrupts that to bring in “his guy”. That’s a sure fire ticket downriver. If Dooley does poorly, it doesn’t matter if Hart’s a new AD or not.
Agreed.
Also, since Dooley has Saban roots, that may bode in his favor.

someone clarify
But as I understand wasn’t he the AD during some dirty dealing in FL?

Yes/No.
Not sure how much he knew/could have known, and his departure to Alabama was in process before anything broke. (Again, not sure what was known at that time.)
I think he was part of the FSU front office during the 90s.
I don’t know many of the details, though.

I know he was fired
What I know is minimal. They fired him, and the athletic programs were pretty much in the toilet (language warning) when they did it. Beyond that I confess my knowledge is minimal of the incidents in question.

Found it!
25+ player cheating scandal that the FSU President alleged Hart was involved in.
Scout has a more detailed breakdown of it.
And while those two links are fairly serious I couldn’t help but chuckle over this one which says that he hates cheerleaders.

Sweet!
I like this hire.Far moreso than the LSU or Georgia Tech guy.
Plus, he’s Rick Hart’s dad. UTC AD Rick Hart that is…..
