Lance Thompson headed back to Alabama
Best of luck to Coach Thompson, I can certainly understand his frustration at not being considered for the DC job.

from trolling message boards and compiling rumors
the general feeling seems to be that Lance has been half-assing on recruiting for a while now and that he wasn’t really a big factor in pulling anyone. The pair of DL (Kirven, Shanks) are being sold on Sunseri, not Thompson. FWIW
If I cared more about my UNC side, I'd call myself "Tar Volon," and that'd be awesome.

I've been getting the same message
He’ s certainly not the recruiting force he appeared to be at Alabama. Take Saban away and probably few are.
also, his big recruiting area was Mobile
easier to pull Mobile kids to Alabama than to Tennessee

yep...maybe we need to get Tee on staff to change that dynamic
I think Thompson to Alabama is a bigger impact to Auburn than to us.
The Shanks thing could have legs
per some reputable sources around FSU. Tennessee can sell instant PT that FSU cant promise on the DL with the line they have the DL recruits they have coming in.

It's not that I don't understand.
But I’m pretty disappointed by this.
Hopefully we can find a good replacement.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

He is a hell of a coach...
and anyone saying otherwise is engaging in revisionist history. Hope he does well in the future, except when his teams play Tennessee.
no one's saying he's not a good coach
people are saying he came to work with Monte Kiffin and has been half-assing ever since Kiffin left. That doesn’t mean not talented, that means not producing. Is there truth to it? I can’t say. Jacques Smith has been disappointing, but Malik Jackson came on great. Although I can’t think of any recruits that had him as their primary

It's a loss for sure, but we'll see who the replacement is
CDD’s batting pretty well thus far all things considered.
Hello ladies. Look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me. Sadly, he isn't me.
This is not really unusual for Thompson.
Three years seems to be about his limit at most places. He would have stayed for a DC promotion, don’t know what’s holding that back. Given his recent lack of success recruiting and Dooley’s pressure to start winning, even if he was very qualified, just might have been wrong time, wrong place for Dooley to make that move.
