it’s a useful skill, admittedly it’s all he’s very good at. Just if he could dial it in and instead of being 30% or so be more like 80%, it could be interesting.

If Stokes gets some of those calls that DeMarcus Cousins used to get
where guys have no choice but to get violent with him to try and get the rebound, that’s very good for us

the problem with bad teams is inconsistency. every time you come out with a good performance (especially two or three in a row), everyone starts talking about how the team has gotten better and we can keep doing this all year. It NEVER happens. I would not be shocked if we turned around and took down UConn or Vandy. but we’re inconsistent. and there are no guaranteed wins this year. we will lose games against bad teams. it’s what bad teams do. especially not on the road.

because it required some massive incompetence from everyone except Stokes to lose

If we'd just gone to him consistently...
we’d have won comfortably.
The team outside him shot something like 12% in the 2nd half.
and just from watching...
he was far and away the best player on the court today.
A little raw, but not nearly as much as you’d expect.
that's not that surprising
a little considering his inexperience, but he is ridiculously more talented than everyone else.
but the team has also had how long to get used to playing with him?

I called him at the under 12 though and the first part of the conversation was about how bad Stokes’ shooting was. then he made a three point play and the topic changed a bit

We're not good enough to beat anybody shooting 2 of 15 from three and 50% at the line
even when we play great defense
nobody's good enough to do that
but UT’s not good enough to still win on its POS shooting nights… ugh.

I still say ahead of Auburn, Georgia, and Carolina
I remain agnostic on LSU and Ole Miss. I haven’t actually watched them. But I suspect they’re bad. But I suspect we’re bad too

so the ol' NIT mark right now is looking grim
requires 8-5 in the next 13 games. That means we have to beat Kentucky, Vandy, Alabama, Florida, or UConn and then sweep the rest of the SEC (Carolina, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss).
For those who like clinging to fool’s hope, the NCAA mark is 10-3.
This was probably our most important game of the year as far as putting ourselves in position to make the postseason, even the crappy postseason.
